I am still feeding etc a stray that adopted me a few weeks back. On the packets I get most recently Claude's pack of 12 Poultry from Tesco it says Adult Cats need around 4 of these per day? It seems an awful lot to me? I usually feed twice per day one of these per time with some Hi Life usually dried food also, which they are not so fussed on but will leave until later and finish off.

Anybody else ever put so much thought into a stray kitty

One pouch morning and evening and dried food/water out all day for our two Maine Coons. Don't believe what it says on the back of the packets

I think they mean that the cat requires 4 pouches a day not that you have to feed a single pouch four times - so you could do 2 meals of 2 pouches each.

These are always recommendations and you have to asses your cats weight and include what other food stuffs you may be feeding them. Depending on the weight of your cat, your quantities do not sound too bad.

I feed twice a day - before I leave for work & just before bed time. Usually with a small treat around tea-time to tide them over.

I must feed ours 5 times a day; twice in the morning before I go to work, as soon as I get home and a few times in the evening. They are 16 months old now and weight 3.6 and 3.9kgs. Vet said this was normal weight.
I tend to give them smaller feeds though as they mostly eat a bit and come back later. Each week they'll get through 1kg of Purina and 2 boxes of Whiskers sachets.
I suspect our dog tippytoes in and eats some.

What sort of weight is in each Sachet?

The foods I've been using recently and the amount I've been feeding are:

Grau Gormet - 200g a day
Purely Scrummy, Yummy - 188g a day
Applaws Dry - 40-50g a day

Not all at the same time of course

Guess it also depends on the activity level of your cat.

I think I am on the right track then. I was just wondering if there was a dead set amount and I was way, way under I was thinking, with four of these packets a day, loads would soon be used!

These new packets are only 100g so quite smaller so maybe I do need to add another on or add a little more dry.

Although I don't know a weight, the cat isn't a great big tom or anything, I would guess to be quite young, about 1-3 perhaps and smallish in frame.

Yep although I cannot be 100% sure the cat is of course un owned for the last number of weeks now it has lived in an unused garage and whatever time I go out to feed the cat pokes its head out and doesn't go far from the garage from what I can gather sticks to the general area. So unless it is some circumstance like someone moved away and the cat wandered back home as it did appear from no where and was persistent in meowing to anyone and everyone to please feed!

I have tried lots of things such as posters up in shops etc. Word of mouth. Ringing various places and have managed to be in touch with someone quite locally who hopefully is going to help soon to take the cat to be scanned and find a cattery/rescue. She has a lot of experience, but until then I am feeding this little mite I guess while trying to keep a distance in the emotional sense!!

I feed mine 1poache a day = 2 meals mixed with dry and 2 teaspoons of water i also leave dry food out for her through the day..i dont leave anything out for through the night as she dont eat it at all.
some days she wont eat as much but will nibble.

i also treat her with just plain boiled chicken once a week .. she loves it..

I've been feeding mine 3 times a day.Once before I go to work and once when I get in and then before bed.The last feed may be smaller though depending on whether there's anything left from the previous one.I leave some dried food out all the time for nibbles.They've probably been eating about 2 and a half sachets a day (well,maybe Harry more like 3 and Ingrid 2 as she's smaller).

Oh and they have tuna or chicken about once a week instead as a treat.

Thelma and Elvis get fed twice a day, morning and evening. 1 pouch, tray or half a tin each morning and night. Dry food is left out all day and topped up as needed. Presley who will be 14 weeks old soon is fed four times a day half a pouch and dry food is out all day just go by what you think is right and the condition of your cats
