Re: Have cats made you less squeamish?
Yes defiantly my first german shepherd suffered from colitis and although he slept in the bedroom with us most of the time he couldn't make it to the back door so I can take anything my kitties throw at me

Re: Have cats made you less squeamish?
Never been "squeamish" around dog/cat products from either end of their anatomy ,as I dont ever remember not being surrounded by them in one form or another.Humans
thats another story, dont handle it very well at all and I used to be a social care worker ![]() |

Re: Have cats made you less squeamish?
Think it has made me & hubs less squeamish. One of our friends recently had a baby and was talking about how as he was changing his son's nappy he'd got poo on his hand, and said he'd nearly puked.
Hubs and I just looked at each other, retching over poo?! and newborn baby poo at that which is just milk and generally doesn't even smell... try clearing pooey bottom fur after a bit of a soft one or scraping it from between pawpads after our clumsy cat steps in her own poo when getting out of the litter tray and immediately wants to sit in our laps! I positively WELCOME baby poo now! |

Re: Have cats made you less squeamish?
I've never been squeamish of dog, cat or baby grossness
But had loads of pets as a kid and have 5 nieces/nephews that have taught me not to be put off by anything ![]() The funniest thing was my 10 yr old niece looking a little sick because she doesn't like the smell of cat food....I still remember the first time I babysat her and ended up with poo all over my hands ![]() But the 2 times Humphrey caught a mouse I screamed like a banshee and locked myself and the cats in my bedroom for a day before I could bring myself to deal with it I actually ended up speaking to my old scool friends dad for advice (I'm nearly 30...sigh)

Re: Have cats made you less squeamish?
Nope. I still hate poo and puke. Blood and guts not a problem. I can deal with our uni pathological anatomy building which has some really really awful smells but poo and vomit still make me heave.

Re: Have cats made you less squeamish?
I was really worried about the corpses I'd have to deal with when we got our two cats, as I DON'T like dealing with those. However, I have become quite used to it, and now simply hope Jack has left the handy lifting device (ie the tail) on the mouse when he dumps the remains on the patio!

Re: Have cats made you less squeamish?
Yes, less squeamish with poos and puke than I was but can't be doing with dead things, injuries or blood. Our Dennis (he's gone now bless) managed to cut his leg and we took him to the vets. Muggins held him whilst the vet had a look and lifted this flap of skin up, I instantly felt lightheaded, straightened up and decided to get some fresh air. I managed to stagger through the waiting room before fainting in front of the huge shop front window.
