i wasn't saying it wasn't ok... I was just saying it's easier on the tum because it's not as strong for other parasites. it's a perfectly good wormer and recommended by vets everywhere including mine! it's just it only covers some worms(roundworm, pinworm and guardia infections) it doesn't cover tapeworm, heartworm, hookworm or lungworms. so it's easier on the tum and recommended as a starter wormer or for indoor pets that aren't exposed to fleas or other parasites outside. but for a more broad spectrum wormer Milbemax, Drontal or Profender is recommended.

lol No need to close the subject! I'm sure others have their opinions on what they like for their cats! you did jump to the defense for no reason so i posted the eyeroll for silliness
tapeworm is very common, but i'm not questioning your care Wendy and I think you know that. Just stating the information so there is no confusion and others that might not know as much as you do will be aware that Milbemax might be right for them or maybe the Panacur might be. I personally prefer Milbemax or Profender for two reasons... milbemax is small and covers more and Profender is a spot on and covers more than the Panacur, because of where i work i don't know what i might be bringing in parasite wise so i want them to be as covered as they can be even if they do get the runs for 24 hrs(usually only 8hrs) i just wouldn't feel they were protected enough with Panacur. But i'm sure for those that have indoor facilities that are low traffic and have no risks of fleas, mites, ticks and some raw meat entering the home Panacur is more than enough of a wormer for them.

Re: Cat Wormer...

I use Panacur paste on kittens up until 12 weeks where I have to say I do use Milbemax used to be Drontal until Milbemax was available.

The reason I chose Milbemax was because it covers more worms including heartworm, now I must admit I thought heartworm was something they suffered from overseas with their mosquitos but apparently I only found this out the other day slugs are carriers for heartworms so because I have a dog aswell & a woodland area close to my home plus children who go out I thought it safer.

Just my opinion & I know everyone on here does what they feel is best for their furry friends it's just that sometimes people can come across as if they are 'telling' others what to do but we should all value each others opinions & try to guide people as best we can!!

I'll go along with that Charmain. We all do what we think is best and even experts have differnet opinions. Sometimes another point of view can be helpful too. Just sift the advice and use whatever works for you.

Re: Cat Wormer...

I always use panacur paste or granules on my cats and kittens....also, my mum in laws cat had a really bad cough and the vert suspected lungworm so advised them to use the panacur granules as it will get rid of lungworm if it is present.

When my cats had a stool sample done recently, there was no indication of worms whatsoever.

I do use Drontal occasionally for my bigger cats because it is far easier to get a tablet down them that paste!
