Bye Bye My Beautiful Bunny

My old white and black cat, Bunny, will be pts on Thursday.

I have had her 15 years, she was a gorgeous large goofy bunny cat, who is now an emaciated old lady. She was diagnosed with a tumour 3 weeks ago and while she is still eating, and sleeping and purring like crazy, her tummy is getting bigger and i don't want her to suffer. She doesn't do pain well - like the time she fell out of a tree.

So we say goodbye soon, not nice. She might be able to go on a bit longer, but i dread that she gets so thin they cannot get a vein. She will be pts at home as she doesn't travel.

Poor Bunny.

Oh Bunny, I am so happy that you have lived your life in a house full of love and warmth. May your journey to the Rainbow Bridge be filled with Catnip and your favourite treats and toys.

TabithaTabby, you have made the hardest decision but one that has been made out of selfless love for Bunny. I hope the next few days are filled with lots of gentle cuddles for Bunny and I wanted to give you a HUGE hug as I know how you must be feeling. x

Re: Bye Bye My Beautiful Bunny

so sorry to hear about your Bunny. we have had vets out to our home in the past to put our pets to sleep, it makes it somewhat nicer and more personal than going to the vets surgery. i think you are doing the kindest thing, hard as these things always are. much love.

So sorry to hear about Bunny. It's not a decision any of us want to make but sometimes we have to do what's right. I hope her last few days are happy and full of love and cuddles, which I am sure they will be. Will be thinking of you both.

Re: Bye Bye My Beautiful Bunny

So soory to hear this, but she's had a very caring owner in you. That's a lot more than many cats have.

You're very brave to make the decision you have. It's never an easy one.

Re: Bye Bye My Beautiful Bunny

Poor baby Bunny. I think you have been very brave and made the right decision, and she is lucky to be able to fall asleep at home with her fav people around her. She has had a love-filled long happy life with you, so you need to be brave for her.

I found a poem when I had to have Sooty pts, it makes me cry but ultimately it helped me as it made me realise what I had to do for him.

"'If it should be that i grow weak,
and pain should keep me from my sleep,
then you must do what must be done,
for this last battle cannot be won.

You will be sad; I understand
don't let grief then stay your hand
for this day, more than all the rest,
your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years,
what is to come can hold no fears,
you'd not me to suffer do,
the time has come to let me go.

Take me to where my needs they'll tend,
and please stay with me to the end,
hold me firm, and speak to me,
until my eyes no longer see.

Please do not grieve it must be you,
who had this painful thing to do,
we've been so close, we two these years,
don't let your heart hold back the tears"

Bunny will go to rainbow bridge where she will run around chasing butterflies and sleeping in the sun.
So sorry for you, sending lots of big hugs and kisses from me and my two monsters xxx

Re: Bye Bye My Beautiful Bunny

It's never easy when you know the time has come.
Bunny has had a lovely life with you and now she is getting ready for the next life.
What a loving owner you are to know that the time has come and to make sure her journey to Rainbow Bridge will be free from pain.
Many years ago when our first cat Dougal was pts we bought him a fresh steak to eat before his journey to the Bridge.
Someone once mentioned to me that they should never go on an empty tummy.
Dougal loved the steak and now is at the Bridge with a couple more of our family cats x

I will be thinking of you on Thursday and hope soon Happy Memories of Bunny will help you through xx
