eating

hiya my sisinlaws cat has 3 kittens but all 3 were dead then all of a sudden she said she started to eat them i was horrified they did this i have never heard of this b4 she got the cat off someone because she wasnt been treated right so took her in can this affect the way she was by eating the kittens making her on edge confused:

Oh, no, how awful for your sister in law. Sadly, yes it does happen in rare cases where the mother will eat her kittens. Not always because they're dead either. Stressed or upset cats will do this too.

No it is a natural part of cats that they will sometimes eat the babies if they are born dead also if they are stressed they could eat their babies

if you have dead baby animals why do you leave them there so the mother is in a position to eat them, why not dispose of them

If there is dead babies you cant always be quick enough to take them away as mum knows their dead and it is instinct for her to eat them quickly

she waited till they was all born and was too late to get them away and they had almost gone when she got there thats why

That's so sad. She must have been stressed - I have heard of it before. Rabbits do it too.
