Re: Collar or no Collar

Where we live, there are so many stray cats, that we really need to have a collar on ours to distinguish them (x2) from the strays (cat number 2 hasn't got a collar yet, but will have one). If they ever went missing, no one is going to think a cat without a collar is anything other than a stray.

There is also a bell on cat number 1's collar and I think the clanking certainly can't harm the bird's chances of not getting caught. So one vote here for a collar.

Re: Collar or no Collar

I know it's a tad off subject but when I see a cat about to go for a bird I always flap about and make loud noises so that I scare the birds off before the cat can get to them hehehe I know that if I was to see a cat catch a bird I'd feel so sorry for the poor thing and end up feeling dreadfull that I couldn't help it :P
Cats! you can go catch birdies... but not in front of me please! I'm an almighty sop! Sorry for spoiling your fun though ahaha

Re: Collar or no Collar

I am pro-collar. They have bells and small tags with my and the vet's telephone number on it. Even though they are confined to my garden, I want their collars to identify them as belonging to someone if they do escape. In this country, few people bother to microchip their cats, so anyone finding them wouldn't necessarily bother taking them to be scanned.

Re: Collar or no Collar

if you are letting your cat out then get her microchipped not a collar. one of my old cats libby used to wear a collar until one day she came without it and in the process of removing it she had cut her stomach open, so no collars after that. if you dont want to catch birds then the only way to stop her is to either keep her in or have a pen built in the garden. i have pen in my garden and my cats love it

Re: Collar or no Collar

All the cats have collars, three safety ones and a leave one.

All are loose enough so that they come right off or break off.

They have a big tag on them saying Im chipped and my number.
