Hi I have 3 lovely cats, two 14 year old sisters I've had since they were 8 weeks old and a 1 year old (on Saturday) tom cat who turned up as an unwanted kitten in my back garden last year. Due to very unfortunate circumstances I am about to be evicted from my home and am having to move into temporary accommodation which won't let me keep my cats. I don't want to sign them over for re-homing as I want them back when I am in a more permanent place. I love all 3 of them to bits and it breaks my heart to be parted from them for any amount of time but does anyone know of anyway/anyplace/any person who maybe looks after cats temporarily other than a cattery (which I cannot afford for 3 cats). I would be really grateful for any advice. Thank you.

it may be worth speaking to rescues in your area anyway to see if they can help with foster care?

after we had a housefire a local rescue took Mabel in for several weeks whilst I found a house and got settled - about 5 weeks in total - they housed her with their ferals (she was feral too) and I only had to give donation towards her keep.

depending where you are rescues may be able to provide a temporary cattery space in return for a donation or help you find a foster home until things are settled

also ask at your vets and - it's cheeky... but explain your problem to catteries and see if anyone can help you out with a reduced rate pen? especially if you can go help with litter tray cleaning/floor scrubbing/general schlepping for a couple evenings a week or something.

Don't know if it helps but I live in rented accommodation and had no problem in having pets. Quite a few other landlords said they would let me have pets as well. I'm not sure about your circumstances of course and know you have to hurry just wanted to mention just in case as most people assume that rented means no pets.

Hope it all works out for you I couldn't imagine having to go through this it must be awful

you could ring the cats protection they have a list of fosters.
If all else fails take them with you! There would be know way if they were mine that i would part with them
No one will no and if they come round to check they have to contact you for a time when you will be in. You can then take them somewhere for the day.
That's what my friend had to do
your two 14 years probably sleep most of the time they are hardly going to make a mess.
Kids make more mess and destruction than cats

Hi Thank you all so much for your replies. As you can imagine I'm feeling pretty emotional at the moment anyway and you're kindness has reduced me to tears (again!) I live near Fareham in Hampshire and I will eventually be moving to rented where I can take them with me but I can't get there straightaway and will be first of all spending 3 nights in a hotel and then I'm being housed in a council B&B in the meantime with my 18 year old daughter too, which is why I can't even sneak them in with me - believe me the thought had crossed me mind!! Plus Candy one of the old girls really doesn't get on with Scampi the little one and would probably kill him if shut up with him all day so I need them to be somewhere either in separate units or where Scampi can go out. The girls would be fine as Floss never leaves the house anyway and yes they pretty much sleep all day!! Thank you again for your kind thoughts and wishes, I will let you know how we get on.

We do, however, have a PF member who helps with re-homing, rescuing and transporting cats around the country - Kelly Joy.

I have PM'd her with a link to your thread and asked her to see if there is any way she is able to help you find something or someone on a temporary basis.
Hopefully, she will be along soon.
