Re: Furniture problems with new kittens!
No, I wouldn't declaw either. Waffles is an indoor kitty but (god forbid) if she ever escaped I would like to know that she had a fighting chance of survival. I would hate to think of her out there with no claws getting beaten up.
I agree that having a pet comes with losing the house pride a little bit. I came into the kitchen to find a ten pence piece size of wallpaper on the floor this morning and i have absolutely no idea where is has come from? ![]() |

Re: Furniture problems with new kittens!
Oh, hahaha, our kittens have destroyed the front bedroom, it was only decorated last year and is now virtually stripped
The dining room is the same. We have now started putting cladding along the bottom half of walls, which has made a huge differece![]() |

Re: Furniture problems with new kittens!
Haha, they are crafty arn't they
D No, it's no good getting cross, as it's only natural to them. I swear there's something in wallpaper paste that attracts them. We have climbers & scratchers everywhere, which they do use, but obviously wallpaper is more fun, lol![]() |

Re: Furniture problems with new kittens!
The Water Pistol is a good idea, It works. It may take time and patience though as kittens will be kittens
![]() My leather sofa is totally ruined but it has taken quite a beating by the cats over the years and although rather scratched and messy it's stood up to the abuse and is still so nice and comfy lol. Not gonna bother replacing it yet, not really much point as it will all happen again LOL ![]() |

Re: Furniture problems with new kittens!
I don't think it's a question of being over house proud as an earlier entry remarked - just because you have got kittens doesn't mean you don't want to try at least to protect things like leather seats, sofas etc. It's not been too bad actually - have made a lot of other chairs - 'cat chairs' with blankets etc and we move the leather chairs out of the dining room when we are not there. Then it's just a question of getting up and clapping our hands at them when thet go on there - so far this all seems to stop them scratching them further. We were thinking of getting leather sofas a few months back - so glad we didn't now! lol
De-clawing??? Omg! |
