Cats are like people when it comes to their teeth. They collect plaque and tarter just like human teeth. This is why it is so important to get that check up at the vet. The vet can clean the the tarter and plauque just like our dentist. I also use a product called Denta Treat. It takes some time to chew so they cannot swallow it whole. And, it actually works!

I asked my vet to show me how to clean my kittens teeth at their second vaccination and have started getting them used to me handling their mouths and rubbing their teeth with my fingers. I will not start 'brushing' them until they get their adult teeth through, but at least they are happy to let me touch them in this way.

Also buy cat toothpaste and a brush for babies or one of those things to slip on your finger, much better :-)
