Re: New cat hiding under my bed

I bought home our new cat last night and he is so cheeky, he spent the night sleeping on everyone's laps, he is not shy at all.

He slept with my son and then came and slept on my head at 6.30am

The only time he goes quiet is when sasha arrives hissing at him.

Cant wait to see pics hun xx

Re: New cat hiding under my bed

As promised, here is new cat peering out of the bedroom door at the great unknown

And here is a picture of the two cats hissing at each other

No trips to the emergency vets just yet.

They have come face to face without killing each other, which has to be a good sign. Even though the new cat looks small in the picture, they are about the same size and age. Quite pleased with the progress so far.

More news tomorrow.

Re: New cat hiding under my bed

Aww gorgeous, i have had hissing and my older girl swiped him earlier, but they actually ate there food in the same room without killing each other so that has to be a good start.

Re: New cat hiding under my bed

Well almost another week has passed but we haven't really had a chance to let the cats get to know each other, as I decided to keep the door closed for a few days and keep them apart.

New cat has now had her innoculations and the vet discovered she has a temperature (at the start of the week), so I decided not to let them mix until she was feeling better.

Bedroom door is now back open and the screeching should start anytime soon. Number 1 cat is off to the vet today for a spot of claw clipping, so at least that minimises the chances of serious damage to cat number 2.

Re: New cat hiding under my bed

Well finally, after two months of hissing, fighting and one cut nose, the two cats have decided to call it a truce and are actually appearing to enjoy each others company.

There is still the odd fight and the new cat still growls at the dog from time to time, but cat number 1 does seem to have realised there is an advantage to having another cat around to play with. Only this morning she woke me up by sitting on my head and purring, so I think she is a happy cat.
