Smile Multi-vet Veterinary Surgery...

This may sound like a stupid question, but when you take your kitties to the vet, do you ever ask for them to see a particular vet there? The vet that my Qetesh goes to has around half a dozen vets working there on a rota, but some of them are better than others and some I trust more than others. The reason I ask is that if I was booking myself an appointment at doctors I would ask for a particular doctor, but does it sound odd to ask the same at the vet? Of course, if it was an emergancy, you'd go with whoever's available, but when it's not could I ask for a particular one?

What do others do when they take their cats to multi-vet veterinary surgeries?

Re: Multi-vet Veterinary Surgery...

i always ask for the same vet, that way they know you and your pets which helps when diagnosing problems.

Re: Multi-vet Veterinary Surgery...

I always ask to see the same vet as he is much more aware of my cat's histories and what treatments etc we have discussed.

There are only 2 Vets where Alfie and Lola go, and they're very nice and like cats (alot of Vets clearly dont!)

Re: Multi-vet Veterinary Surgery...

Yes I do request one vet, not to say there's anything wrong with the others, but continuity is important and so are attitude and experience.
Having said that when I get 5 mins to myself I am going to investigate a new practice as they have got a new purpose built premises with a separate waiting room for cats and from their blurb just sound more 'cat aware' than the one I use now which seems to have a large animal practice.

I really hate locums,

When i took my last litter of 5 kits for the 2nd vaccs my usual vet was on holiday,
I had vac cards already which my vet always leaves blank so that the new owners can fill thier address in, she flatly refused to use them because for all she new i could be anyone

Then the ones she filled in had the wrong colours, names, breed on, i told her that was no good as some were going for breeding/ showing , she told me to tipex over it! so i rang the gccf there and then and had them tell her that will not do

Then she started tutting and muttering things under her breath to the vet nurse next to her.

She then told me she didnt think i was very wise vaccinating them before they go, so i explained they are GCCF reg pedigree cats not moggies!

She was about 60 about time she was retiring i thought, I really wished i had complained about her whole attitude, it stunk!

Rant over, thats why i ask for the same vet ,lol

If its something that's not an emergency I always go Wednesday lunch time as its my day off, so its virtually always i see the same one anyway as it falls in with her shift. I think its a good thing to try and stick to the same vet as they get to know your cats, especially the number of times we are there D Of course in an emergency I would just see any of them

Thumbs up Re: Multi-vet Veterinary Surgery...

Thanks for the input, everyone! Saynamore, going to the vet on the same day at a similar time sounds like a great idea; I just might be put through to the same one or two vets, that way. I'll definitely give that a go, see how that works out. Failing that I'll make the appointment with the same vet by requesting them by name.
