What to do with the ashes...

Although I guess these could be used for any type of ashes, as I lost Soots last week I have been looking at how I can keep him with me forever.

This may be downright wierd to some of just a bit OTT, but I like the idea of it.

Memorial Jewelry | Funeral Pendant | Cremation Jewelry

is an american website that sells jewellery that you can put a small amount of ashes inside. They seem to have lots of different types, including jewellery actually much similar to my own. I think it is quite reasonably priced, and have actually ordered the following one (as it is pretty much the same as the one I'm wearing now!)
Radiant Ribbon Sterling Silver Cremation Jewelry - Engravable

Maybe I got this as I'm not comfortable with an urn sitting on a shelf getting dusty or burying him in our garden when I know that we won't be living there for the rest of my life.

There are other options though, such as glass memorials, like this one;
Memorial Glass - Ashes into Glass Handheld Memory Heart www.bathaquaglass.com
They are rather pretty and another lovely way to use some of the ashes.

There are also services where you can press the ashes into diamonds, but these cost in excess of £1900 so I'm not sure it's worth putting out the link, but here it is anyway;
LifeGem - Memorial Diamonds created from a lock of hair or cremated remains / ashes / cremation

Ems xx

Re: What to do with the ashes...

I like the glass hearts, i think that is a very nice idea. I would look into something like that and maybe a little photo next to it.

Although i am getting upset thinking about this now, even though she is not even a year old yet!

But lovely ideas and i am sure they will help

Don't start yet! You probably have a good 20 odd years with her

Re: What to do with the ashes...

I'm sure you will find the perfect one for you and your beloved Sooty I think it's lovely to be able to have such a tangible reminder.
I left behind three kitties buried in the garden of our previous house and it was harder for me than leaving the house which I had loved and brought my children up in
On a lighter note - I want my DH turned into a diamond He's 6' 3" so he should make a nice big one

Ah, that jewellery is lovely and what a great idea. Something that I will hopefully remember when that awful time comes.

*hug*

Hissy kitten is in a little black urn of a sleeping cat and she sits in the window ledge where she was happiest. I'm in tears now. Her sister sits at the other end of the window ledge like they used to

Re: What to do with the ashes...

We left my eldests hamster buried in the garden at our first home about ten years ago, she had us trying to dig it up the day we moved though. Ever since then we've put the remains in the bottom of a planter and put a little tree in. We have two that have moved homes with us twice now and we'll do the same if anything ever happens to our kitties. It's nice to have them out on the patio and know that they are still with us in the sun, and it's a lot easier than dealing with the heartbroken kids if we ever move again.

Well, diamonds are a girls best friend!

I'm going for one glass heart for me, and one for my little brother. I'm obviously also getting one of those necklaces, so I can discreetly have him with me always I guess it wuld look strange if I decided to carry his urn around

I like the idea of the urns being in the window, and even being buried outside in pots in the sunshine, but still being able to be taken with whenever you move

Am I just wierd for wanting im in my necklace then?
