Well done you for finding such beautiful ways of keeping your boy with you always.

It broke my heart when I moved from London & had to leave Boris behind. I wish I could have been able to do this back then...
It's been horrible but I've wanted to find something that feels appropriate for me and Soots. I'm not judging anybody who does, but I wouldn't feel comfortable having him in an urn or buried in our garden. I would be scared of the urn breaking or moving and having to leave him, it would break my heart all over again.

I thought it would be a good idea to post on here too, as inevitably, there will be others going through the same thing or are preparing to have to go through it. I thought it would be a good idea to present the different options fairly easy

Well, with one 17 year old and three 16 year olds I certainly have to get used to the idea! I would look like Mr T if I made them all into pendants, but can quite picture a row of glass hearts somewhere on display.....( runs off with tears in eyes! )
Do I presume that you paid for individual cremation? Can I ask how much and did the vet organise it all??

Re: What to do with the ashes...

What about scattering the ashes on a beautiful mountainside or something, somewhere she would have liked to run around and explore?. Whenever you look at the mountain, you can be reminded of Sooty.

I did yes, I would hate the thought of Sooty being mixed with others :/ My vets were great, they just asked me to pick which type I wanted, just to take him home, mixed cremation or sole cremation, then what I wanted him to come home in. As I've never intended to have him in an urn I just asked for a scatter box. Individual cremation, with the scatter box and obviously courier service cost me £220. Is that roughly what they would cost?

I will obviously love any cat unconditionally, but Sooty will be that extra special one to me! Although ask me in 15-20 years time and I might feel the same about Benji, and want him to be in a necklace too. Although some how, Sooty will always be unbeatable.

The idea of having the little hearts all together sounds lovely actually I know what you mean about getting used to the idea, I was preparing myself to make the decision anyway because of his CRF, and honestly I think that making myself think about it all has really really helped me.

Oh dear. Yes, that would limit your options.
I suppose it wouldn't be legal to scatter ashes in Hyde Park or St James's.

Re: What to do with the ashes...

The hearts are lovely but i couldn't bring myself to open the casket and send a teaspoon of their Ashes to be put in the heart.

My first cat Dougal was buried in our Garden, which i now regret.
Molly and Boris are in little caskets placed in their favourite place.
When the time comes for me to go (hope not for a long time!) they will be put in with me, along with all the other cats that hopefully will come into my life.

I have a locket which has a picture of Molly and Boris in it.
Also have a bit of Mollys fur in a trinket box.

It's a sad thought but when you have pets it's all part of it.

I take comfort that one day we will be all together again.
