Female Cats

I was always one for male cats. After my Peanut died, we adopted Cloie (female). She was just so pretty with her yellow eyes. And, this year when my donnie passed we adopted Maddy (female). Again, too cute to pass up.

I love them both very much and they are both a perfect fit with our family, but I am finding out that they can be just like us girls - brats! What do you guys think?

Re: Female Cats

My mum's cat is female. She's about 14 years old, and she's a bit of a tart! She spends most of her day lying upside down with all 4 legs in the air. The rest of the day she follows me or my mum about and shouts at us.

Re: Female Cats

My first 2 cats were females. When I moved to London, the first one stayed with my Mum. She was much adored but also a little madam!! Once settled in London, I got another female - she too was a little madam. I didn't get much affection from her but if any blokes entered the room........ Well, she was all over them like a rash!!!! She would ignore all my female friends tho' - it wasn't just me.

From then on, I have ALWAYS had boy cats and I adore them. My boys are soooo cuddly and affectionate. Even towards my OH although more with me as they were my babies before he came along.

We have been chin-wagging about getting another cat - more for the OH as he can feel a bit left out when my boys sit with me every night on the sofa. Due to my previous experiences with girls, we feel that if we did get cat # 3 it would be a girl in the hope that she would be 'his' cat. Also, my boys might feel less intimidated with a new girl than another boy.

Re: Female Cats

Im al for boys..

I think and this is in my experience that boys are more affectionate and more tolerant to tummy tickles and snuggles.. and you can't beat a good kittie snuggle.

Im afraid. (talking to Bobby now. The dog) You are no consolation for a cat.. getting on my bed and snuggling into me is waking me up.. You are so heavy.. You cannot pretend to be a cat any longer..

Re: Female Cats

I've had 3 boys and one girl, and yes all the boys are / were happy to be cuddled and basically let you do anything with them as long as they could lie there being lazy (my sister put Jupiter in her toy pram when we were little, on his back just like a baby, he didn't care!)

My girl is still very affectionate, but only on her terms. She won't stand for being picked up if she's busy, but will often snuggle up on a lap in the evening.

My aunt's cat is less affectionate, and prefers her own company!

Re: Female Cats

MY girls are both cuddle monsters and will happily curl up with whoever happens to have a vacant lap - even with my dad who *hates* cats I've not had a lot of experience with boys - cats that is, I have two sons

Re: Female Cats

My Boy is soppy and loves fusses any time is happy to be picked up carried and sung to whilst carrying him round like a baby, my girl seems to hate everyone and everything unless she wants a fuss then she shouts and wails and becomes the most affectionate cat ever and will snuggle on your lap if she chooses but she is a four paws on floor cat, hates being picked up and she goes so floppy and limp she's almost liquid and you have to put her down, I have never had a cat do this before it's really strange as most times if they don't want to be picked up they just jump out of your arms.

Shadow is a mad young man lol. he loves playing and loves being a lap cat. My two litter sisters r.i.p were too complete opposite to Shadow and both were lazy in comparison

Re: Female Cats

Molly has her moments with being a right little madam, but very few. She is extremely affectionate with me ....she was somewhere in the flat the other day, I called her name for a cuddle and for the first time ever she came running and bounded up onto my shoulder

She loves her cuddles with my OH as well, but usually she treats him as her play thing he is always the one with scratch marks, though you cant blame her for that, he does wind her up till she is hyped up to the max!!!!

Re: Female Cats

I'm all for the boys Sooty too was a big soppy baby! If possible he would have loved people to death He loved getting picked up and sitting on my hip like a baby, and up until he got older I could carry him around like a baby and he would love it! His purr was like thunder when you did that and spoke to him like a baby, quite funny to watch for others!
