My previous Ragdoll BooBoo used to go into the back garden, supervised of course. She used to just walk around very slowly, sniffing the fresh air and the plants etc. She wouldn't go any further than half way down the garden. Never attempted to jump the fence or "escape" from the garden in any way. She wasn't completely confident with being outside, so a sudden noise and she would run back indoors. She used to go out the front too (we would hold her). My mum used to put her on the wall and she would sit there and look about. One day, my dad clapped his hands for some stupid reason and it scared the crap out of her, she jumped off and flew down the road!

she was scared and ran in the complete wrong direction. My dad managed to catch her, thank God! Let's just say, my mum didn't let her out the front on the wall anymore after that

.
BooBoo did enjoy going out there and watching the cars go by and sniffing the air, but it wasn't worth her getting run over or running off and us not being able to catch her.
My 2 Ragdolls I have now have never been outside either. They haven't even been allowed to go in the back garden like BooBoo used to (apart from a couple of times when I put them in Foxys pen for a few minutes).
Eearlier today my mum decided to use the pen as a door gate (because it's tall) she shaped it around the back door, so they could step outside. Bailey loved it! He did the Raggy flop and sunbathed

. Cleo was being nosey, but she's a bit more reserved and was touchy and slightly scared. If someone moved towards her, made a noise or something she quickly ran back inside.
Personally, I will NEVER let my Ragdolls outside (apart from in the back garden supervised or in a pen/run). If I ever own another Ragdoll, or any other type of pedigree cat I will also never let them to roam free outside. It's too risky IMO. That's just my choice.
More so with Ragdolls, as some of you may know they aren't like your normal moggy or even like some pedigrees. They are dopey, extremely laid back and too trusting. They would easily get into danger roaming free outside.
Maybe it would be different if they were allowed to have free roam outside from day one, but even then I feel a Ragdolls personality doesn't suit that kind of lifestyle.
Don't feel bad when she claws at the door. You are only wanting to keep her safe. Just ignore her and she will get over it. If not, then take her into the garden every now and then if she really likes it. Or make her a run to be in sometimes.
I had to laugh when you said she doesn't jump over the door gate, she asks to be let through....
Mine do exactly the same thing lol. Most cats would have jumped them door gates within seconds!
I only got the door gate because of Foxy. One day I closed it behind me (the cats were still in that room). I went off into the living room for quite a while and thought where are the cats? They follow us everywhere! I went to find them and there they were sitting behind the door gate looking at me as if to say "please let us out". If you don't open it for them, they start to meow over and over. They haven't even tried to jump it
