Re: Outdoor cat

I have 3 cats all of which are indoor now, but in my previous home we expected Lexi to go outside, he was a confident young cat, but instead he refused to go out, and we were fine with it.
If he really doesn't want to go i wouldn't force the issue, he could go out, panic and not come back etc

Don't stress it. Let him do what he wants to do (he will anyway ).

Re: Outdoor cat

He sounds happy and has the option of going out, so just let him decide.
TBH once they are neutered the vast majority of outdoor cats dont get alot of exercise. When my Bess could go out she only ever went as far as the bathroom roof where she slept all day and came in at night for dinner and to sleep on my bed!!

Could you please come and tell this to Merson who LOVES to go out and has got his little route (we call it his M1 Circuit) that he goes around several times a day when he is allowed out. He is totally a Mr Muscle with not an ounce of flab on him. This circuit includes several jumps up and down 6ft fences, on top of high walls and through a few neighbouring gardens.

I would really, really like it if someone could convince him that staying home is the way to go.......

BTW, he had his 'removal' over 9 years ago!!!!

Re: Outdoor cat

Thanks for all your advice, it has been very helpful. We have been having the door open a bit whilst the nice weather is here. He sits on th doorstep watching me hang the washing on the line. We try and get him active wth toys but he has a really short attention span. He wont play with kickers, he takes a couple of bats of any dangly toy then wanders off. The laser mouse is the best probably, but alot of the time he just watches it rather than chasing it.

We'll see what happens over the summer when he has access to the outside more often.
