Playmate for Tiffany

Hi all, since becoming a cat slave a few months ago me and the OH have become smitten, since I had Cheeko I didn't want to bring 2 cats into the house incase they ganged up against him as he was gettin on a bit.
Tiffany will be an indoor parmpered princess but since Cheeko is no longer with us we have decided to definately get another cat (ideally another young kitten).

Tiff is due to be spayed in a month or so, so I thought it was a bad idea to get a new baby incase we fell in love with a boy (don't want any accidents here) and also I don't want to get a kitten while Tiff is recovering for fear of her getting hurt by playfull paws. All in all although I can't bear to wait we have decided to wait until very early January as we are away for a week over xmas too.

What I want to know is; 1- will it be OK to get a young kitten (8 or 9 weeks) which we would really like even tho Tiff will be 7 months?
2- if it would be better to get one a similar age to her?
3- does it make a difference if the new commer is male or female?
and lastly 4- doeas anyone know any moggie breeders relatively close to me? (will travel as far south as Newcastle and as far north as Inverness).

I thought I would ask on here as everyone (the majority anyway) seem to be very responsible breeders who look after their animals very well. We would just go to a rescue centre but we called round a few before getting Tiff and none were keen to let us adopt as the cat would be kept inside (unless it was a white cat due to sun probs etc). The rescue centre we got Tiff from is now closed and I'm not sure where else to look, I wouldn't like to rehome a kitten posted in a supermarket or calssified ad or similar (BYB's etc) (although these cats need homes as much as rescue cats I don't want to encourage the people breeding them).

I'd def consider a non-registered pedigree as long as it was within a reasonable budget (and wouldn't turn his or her nose up at princess Tiff the majestic mog

I need more fur!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Playmate for Tiffany

It should be fine to get another kitten hun Either sex would be ok as they neutered anyway.
Thats daft, around here they ask you to keep your cat inside

Re: Playmate for Tiffany

getting a 2nd kitten was the best thing I could do for Alfie.

He is a male Ragdoll and a very shy, quiet personality.. I decided to get him a friend after seeing how he loved being round my Mums moggie..

Now Alfie and Lola get on like a house on fire.. they play together, cuddle each other (they dont pay me any less attention either!) Alfie has really come out of his shell since getting him a little sister.

And at least when I go out the house I know they wont get lonely because they have each other

For a terrible moment I thought you were going to try and tempt me into your Norwegian which you know I have completely fallen for (it would be a no brainer if I could take it now).

Re: Playmate for Tiffany

Ideally I was hoping for a young kitten just because we enjoyed Tiff so much and really seem to have created a bond although never say never, only prob is tho my OH would take a little bit of convincing to get one now, again never say never, any pics?
