The Dreaded Vets

So, we took Waffles to the vets for her second jab on Saturday....

....it all went well, she got in her carrier, we got her in the car, she fell asleep and then we opened the carrier on the vets table and it all went wrong from there really.....

She jumped off the table and ran away from the vet, she jumped at the window which was barred. I picked her up and put her back ont he table and she had her little injection.

She then would not get back into her carrier. I had to pretty much drag her in and her claws her trailing along the table. Poor thing

I was a little embarrassed.... anyone else had an embarrassing episode at the vets?

lol, very common. at least she came out of the box! some just latch on all paws out and won't let you get them out! or poo themselves or wee themselves and get it all over them, you and the vets and it smells fantastic! i've had a cat attach it's self to my shoulder and wouldn't let go, she tried to climb up to my head.

Aww bless, its as though they sense something nasty is going to happen.

My previous cat Sushi used to purr when she had her temperature taken.

Hubby and me used to argue as to whose turn it was to take her in.

did you know that cats also purr when they are in extreme pain or hurt? they also do it when they are stressed sometimes as well. doubt that was why Sushi was purring tho hahaha naughty pussy eek:

Yeah, they do it to comfort themselves. Like their mums would purr to them in the nest.

Re: The Dreaded Vets

Mine have been at the vets so much now that they think it's their 2nd home!!! I have noticed mine tend to get upset tummies the day after visiting the vet so I guess it must stress them out a little bit. They never growl or hiss or run away though although they do cry through the whole car journey there!!!

Re: The Dreaded Vets

Patti my first cat was a cow and had on her records in big red letters be careful and on guard with this cat D
A vaccination normally took 2 nurses and a vet and when she caught clhymidia (sp) she had to go for anti biotic injections every other day as she wouldn't take pills, she escaped out the cat crusher thing, 2 towels, a cat basket and the treatment room so in the end the had to wear gauntlet gloves and a big coat as she used to bite and scratch above the gloves!
They closed the surgery one day as a clever new vet ignored all the warnings and had to go to a & e for stitches on his face and hands
Getting her in a cat basket used to take anywhere from 20 mins to 90 mins
Bless her she was ace
