Poisoned! Any reassurance?

I am beside myself with worry. This morning my 15month old moggy stuck her face in some flowers, she got lily pollen on her face and when I saw some on her gums I got my fella to double check on line to see if it is poisonous, it is! We took her straight to the vet, they've kept her in on a drip, her blood tests today were ok, but they say she could still die.

I'm so so so worried. I had no idea they were poisonous to cats. I feel awful!

She didn't eat any and I don't think she even licked it, she was on a drip within an hour of it happening and she's normally healthy.

Please please someone tell me that the fact that she hardly ingested any means she's probably gonna be ok...

Re: Poisoned! Any reassurance?

What has your vet said?

I'm sorry I don't have any experience of this but if pets can recover from ingesting rat poison then I'm sure there's a great possibility she will be fine. If you caught it early enough there's normally a good chance.

Hope she's okay, let us know what happens x

Re: Poisoned! Any reassurance?

Thank you everyone, we're all upset but hoping for the best.

The vet said that she 'isn't out of the woods yet' and that 'there is a high fatality from lily poisoning'.

She's having more blood tests tomorrow and she'll be in until Monday at the earliest. If her blood tests are ok on Monday then I think she'll be out of the woods then.

Is there anything else that is incredibly poisonous to cats that I should know about?! I can't believe I didn't know....

Re: Poisoned! Any reassurance?

My ex's Mum had a cat that used to love lillies I told her on many occasions that they were poisonous but she saw no point in not buying them as he'd always been fine
The weird thing is he was never affected by them. He used to get absolutely covered in the pollen all over his face and back where he'd rub on them, which he of course then licked off his fur turning him bright orange, to no ill effect whatsoever.

Now obviously I'm not saying to cat owners that they should ignore the potential risks and have lillies around their cats, but try not to panic too much. You did the right thing and got her straight to the vets, hopefully she'll be fine.

I never knew lilies were poisonous-have never grown them, but my friend gave me some,in flower a few years ago and they are still coming up
My 3 cats are all indoor ones and no other cats come in our garden
Thinking of you-whats your cats name,by the way ,you didnt tell us,
