Now obviously I'm not saying to cat owners that they should ignore the potential risks and have lillies around their cats, but try not to panic too much. You did the right thing and got her straight to the vets, hopefully she'll be fine.
I reda somewhere that it isn't a poison, per se, but most cats cannot break down some chemical in the lily pollen which creates a fatal allergic reaction. Not sure if that is correct. So, in your case, he was one of the few cats who are not allergic. If someone gives me flowers and there are lillies in the bunch, I bin the lillies at once, beautiful as they are.
