Couldn't agree more - they just scare animals and make WAY too much noise and they sell them to anyone just to make a buck!! i'll be bringing my stud boy in that night - i don't think he should be scared out his poor wits xx and if they start early i'll be complaining BIG time xx

Totally agree with you Kel. I wish they'd ban them forever in shops. God knows why these yobs think it's so funny to throw around the streets at innocent people & animalsmad:

Re: It's that time of year

I mean i know nasty things because of fireworks always happen and have done for yrs but it seems that nowadays kids and adults alike aren't so much interested in enjoying them for the fun of their colors etc but more for their danger/damage element and usually at the cost of someone elseLast year May rescued a dog who'd been cornered by some kids(i'm being polite when i use the term kids)who thought it great fun to bounce fireworks off his ribsShe gave them what for and returned the dog to his home(he had a tag) where to all our horror he belonged to the kids who lived their and the father of these mini bruts clouted one and took the dog inside,no concern about a vet or anything

I totally agree...even when I didn't have pets! This is my 1st year with Taz so don't know how he'll react, he follows the hoover round and sits looking out the window when it's thunder and lightening but fireworks are a totally different matter....always moved the rabbit and g pig indoors during the firework period....fireworks should be kept to Nov 5th, makes me laugh the eejits that let them off when its still light

Re: It's that time of year

Even if you ban fireworks and not sell them in shops people will still get a hold of them. Failing that they will always find some stupid thing to do, ie: setting gas lighter fluid cans alight etc.... or something.

It is a shame, I love fireworks but people will always ruin everything. None of my Cats are bothered by them so I'm lucky as it's like the Blitz here on bonfire week/end.

Re: It's that time of year

A firework once went through a skylight (window in the loft) nearly setting fire to my mum's house and my 6 year old niece was there at the time. It was fired by some Australian/New Zealand (same accent) idiots who were getting drunk in a garden opposite and enjoying themselves by launching them sideways toward houses instead of vertical. Luckily I was there because neither my poor mum or my niece could get up in the loft to put out the burning lagging. When I went up to the loft to put out the small fires, they were still firing off the fireworks and I actually thought I was gonna get hit by one...so after I made sure the loft was not on fire I went down and dialled 999 to get them to stop the idiots. The stupid female plod at the other end said I was wasting police time so I told her to get off her fat arse and do something. She said they were "overstretched" and mine wasn't an emergency. Ok so if a child and elderly person were trapped in a burning house...would that be an emergency? I went back up to repair the window and cut my finger as well...while they were still firing fireworks around the roof. I stayed with my mum that night cos she was scared and plod came round at 2am...a bit late. On a plus note; I thought they were going to give me a hard time for dialing an emergency (even though it was...) and insulting their colleague ...though instead the two officers were sympathetic and said they were trying to get the fireworks banned and went in the garden to see the damage.

Now this is how I see it: I was in the army and I've used explosives, hand grenades, sabot and HEAT rounds etc etc. Not very fun. So first of all I don't see the attraction of things which go boom. Secondly, if people like explosions...SEND THEM TO EFFING IRAQ! You'll have real fun there! lol Joking aside...what will it take to ban fireworks for sale to the GENERAL PUBLIC (not institutions i.e. companies which organise events)? What will it take? A terrorist bomb made out of fireworks and let off on a bus? There's all this crap about terrorism and yet you can legally buy explosives?...if that's the case...just sell blimming mortars and be done with it. Yes I hate the things...

Something else we agree on! Really pees me off, I will be keeping my pair in around bonfire night time (which should be fun ) but it's not just the cats. One of my dogs is terrified of fireworks and it's just not fair that he has to be terrified each night for weeks when it should really only be one or two nights. Another reason I hate kids! (

Don't hate ALL kids I have a 13 and 11 year old and there is no way they will be out setting off fireworks....we will be in looking after our babies, you have to be 18 to buy them, so it must be irresponsible adults buying them for kids.......another reason I hate adults
