Picking up my kitten tomorrow morning

Hello everyone, I'm new here. And a man ...how many others are out there? First of all...about my kitten: He's a Norwegian Forest Cat. I've wanted one for ages since I first read about them. I'm a history buff so I was reading up on the vikings. I like anything to do with history, even antiques...so a "historical" cat appeals to me a lot too. I also love nature and so love animals in general and plants etc.

Now about the "man living alone with a cat" stigma: I couldn't care less...you can tell people make judgements on your sexual orientation (I'm straight...not that I have any problems with gay men), or they think you're a strange loner...quite the opposite otherwise why get a blimming cat for company? And other general stupidity. I love cats...amazing animals. Much more than dogs...I find dogs a bit annoying...they hang onto your every word, have no initiative and are generally less smarter than cats (people mistake a dog's willingness to follow orders as intelligence)...surely an animal which can take the initiative and act for itself making decisions in the meantime is more intelligent than one which follows orders blindly? "Rover...jump off the cliff" "WOOF! WOOooooooooooooooooof" *thud*. If that's the case, a mule must be the most intelligent creature in the world, they'll happilly carry you on their backs until they collapse and die of exhaustion... I don't hate dogs mind..I just think they are overated. Whereas cats are a perfect blend of self-sufficiency yet rely on their owners for food but wont suffer an anxiety attack everytime you leave them for longer than 15 seconds. Cats also don't stick their heads in the bin and eat whatever they find or drink from the toilet bowl and generally will keep themselves clean...yay cats!

Anyway, I have to get up at 5am tomorrow morning to pick him up...he's 150 miles away, you see...but can't sleep cos I'm quite looking forward to it.

HAHAHA oh dear. i think you'll find there are a few breeds of kitty that will do such a thing!! and then laugh at you when you blame it on the dog!

My Ocicat turns bins over on a regular basis, though she usually pulls what ever paper there is in it and shreds it for me and then cleans the bin out on to the floor and sleeps in the bin. it's her idea of taking the trash out i guess... i've also knocked her in the toilet bowl on a couple of instances in the night seems she woke me up when she got up to go to the toilet and when i did the same i heard a YAWLLL and splash... lol she also feels that mummy water always tastes better or daddy's beer. she now has her own glass by the bed, i don't like floaties in my water!!!
as for the cleaning factor meh is all have to say about that. lol

welcome to the forum I'm fairly new here too and i'm doing my best to try not to mind the overly sensitive types here and be careful with your sarcasm... seems to not bode well here. lol
*Yawn*

Hey Steph....your cat is unusual. Never even heard of it up until now... God sake...look at the time ...lucky I'm a driving machine or I'd be too knackered tomorrow...I do drive London-Northern Italy on a regular basis only stopping for petrol though...that's 24 hours driving non-stop so 150 miles up the M1 should be no problemo. But still...

Goodnight!

Re: Picking up my kitten tomorrow morning

Thanks for the welcome. For those of you who asked, here are pictures of Fluffy..I didn't choose the name BTW...but he seems to like it...so...

oh and excuse the picture quality in the first one...they were taken with different cameras:

He's 22 weeks by the way...so still a kitten but a big one...

Relaxing after playing all morning...

As you can see he's the non-aggressive type:

...and back to sleep

I took him home yesterday evening...so I'm still finding out things about him..but so far:

-He likes sleeping on his back
-He's got very good eyesight...almost human like? He saw his reflection in the mirror from 5 feet away in semi-light and sees the mouse cursor on the monitor from 3 feet away...
-He's obsessed with his reflection in the mirror
-Very intelligent...learns something fast
-Expert jumper
-Wreckless...falls off my lap when he's stretching his legs...bumps his head and back while playing...maybe cause these cats are used to the viking's rough treatment?
-Very strong
-Nearly the same size as my sister's 10 year old female cat...BIG kitty
-Has rabbit hind legs and ears and a squirrel's tale...looks very funny from the back...wouldn't say it was a cat

Apart from that I spoil him rotten...I give him Volvic water and he eats only the finest kitty food...I mean, not even the plebs who live around here drink Volvic water, they settle for Asda's own brand....

Oh yeah, I have to mention his breader who is a very nice lady...I can't say enough good things about her. Helped me out a lot...I got him from Nordykatt.

Hi Potatoes

Welcome to the board. Fluffy is gorgeous, a very handsome lad. He looks like he has been purrfectly bought up as he appears to have settled in very quickly.

I have to agree with your assessment of cats I hope you continue chatting on here it will be lovely to see Fluffy growing up
