Hello people,
I need some help. I went camping and came back and I have gradually become covered in fleas. When I say covered, I mean it, its getting ridiculous now, I can hardly sleep etc. I didn't get bitten when I was camping, only when I came back. I have a cat however, which leads me to believe camping could have been a red herring and I just got fleas from the cat - and camping had nothing to do with it. But the cat has had one of those flea spots so should not have fleas. But just to get some help, I managed to capture a flea and take a picture of it ! Please could anyone in the know chek it out and could you possibly tell me if it is a cat flea or a human flea... Meaning, should I boil all of my clothes and take serious measures around my house, or should I stop panicking and just treat my cat more??? Heres the flea: ![]() Thanks in advance! ![]() Last edited by fender2; 09-09-2008 at 02:36 PM. |

It may just be me but I can't see the flea(or infact the photo) - has it jumped away? ![]()

Re: fleas, HELP!!
I would say that it's a cat flea.
What spot-on treatment did you use on your cat? Some are better than others. Also, don't forget that flea larvae can survive in carpets and soft furnishings, you will need to wash all bedding etc and vaccuum all carpets thoroughly. Hope you sort out your itchy problem soon! ![]() |

Re: fleas, HELP!!
firstly yes that looks like a pet flea. secondly what spot on treatment did you use? thirdly you can buy a product called Indorex in a spray can and spray your house to treat the unwanted fleas until your cats flea treament starts to work. but it's best to use this in conjunction with washing all your loose linen and clothes and vacuuming the house. We sell it at the vets but i'm sure you can get it elsewhere. have a look online. be sure its what's on the tin though as another product might not work as well. as for spot on treatment for your puss...
Frontline combo(combo for top market meds not just 'spot on' which is a different dose and meds may not work as well)doesn't cover mites and only some worms) Stronghold(covers fleas, mites, ticks and some worms) Advocate(fleas, ticks, mites and some worms) also if there are fleas there are usually worms from ingestion of the fleas best to get some Drontal or Milbemax for worming. be wary and don't depend on ones you get from the Tescos(etc..) or some pet shops (ie. bob martin) |

![]() bob martin stuff is not prescript only and i really dont know why it's still on the market!! most fleas and pets have built up an immunity to the drug they use for flea treament. pop up to your vets and get some of the ones i listed below. you should see results in a week ![]() |
