When I could also quite easily go in their little room and do that myself Bear in mind I have multiple vet visits and should have shares in the place and would be able to pinpoint the prescribed medication within a minute So £4.50 plus vat just for basically handing me the medication, what's that about £6, do your vets do that?

I should add, I'm not having a dig at you but just vetinary practice in general and wonder if your practice does the same?

wow

um firstly it's Ms. I'm divorced and secondly all vet practices are under private management. so not all of them do that... and no we do not. we don't have extra fees. we tack on a % of the price for food and counter sales and a completely different % for medications as they are prescript only. but only enough to make a profit. nothing major. it's a very low key no non sense family practice. our vet doesn't blow a lot of hot air or make you pay for crap you really don't need. he's lovely actually. we had a dog come in the other day with a bump on the head, vet looked at it said to keep an eye on it and if it changes in the next few weeks to come back in or if it bursts to come back in that its most likely a sebaceous cyst. If it burst we will remove it and if it doesn't leave it. if it grows we will remove it. He didn't even charge them for a consult and sent them home. we're very loving and family run. I love working there and i don't appreciate having to defend myself because you want to pigeon hole all vets in because you have had a few bad experiences.

hope that answers your question.

and for the record i think if you asked anyone on here you did in fact have a dig at me... but i don't mind. i'm an honest easy going person and I deal with people like you daily and learn to ignore nod smile and be honest and do my job to look after the animals as best i can.

oh and to answer your question no i don't think it's right. but shop round if you don't like it leave!

If there was one that covered breeding cats I would go over the small print with a VERY fine tooth comb, and I still wouldn't trust it.eek: Chrissy that price you quoted is steep for just dispensing some tablets...............is that a consultation fee or is it a separate fee?

ah so they do cover then? I donno I've never dealt with them for breeding. This will be a new thing for me Going to speak to the head nurse and my boss about it to be honest. They deal with insurance people and details with them more than me. I just stamp the forums and send them off... *thought* maybe i should charge them £4.50 more in my wages for stamping them and putting them in a envelope!! and get insurance for the paper cuts on my tongue!!! eek:

I think you will find that I was not pigeon-holing all vets but asking at the end of the post if yours charged a dispensary fee and whether this is normal? I cannot see any personal digs there, can you be more specific? can anyone else see where I was having a dig at Elsibi's mum? I would also wish you would clarify your phrase 'people like you and learn to ignore nod smile' this is very derogatory and condescending. Now you may be fresh out of college love but have you got 40 years of cat experience behind you???????? I am sure you have plenty of college advice to give us all which we could all learn from but please do not come here like you know it all mad: (and yes that bit was personal, as was your post!)

No, mine are not. Some of mine were but when I went to clain for a £250 vet bill they would not cough up because of some stupid reason. I then stopped all insurance as it cost too much. Instead we have a Vet Bill Emergency Credit Card which thankfully has not been needed. *touches wood*

I answered your question, made it clear that i was offended, defended myself and others that might be just doing their job. refering to me as Misses wasn't derogatory and condescending then? hmm I actually only have 22yrs of cat, horse and dog experience but i guess i'm not perfect yet. there is always something new to learn and i'm up for it! i never claimed at any point to know 'it all' as you say. not sure why you felt that way. In my original post I only asked if there was a breeding cover and wanted to know until you jumped down my throat calling me Misses and 'Erbsli's mum' when you know my name is Stephanie from reading my intro which is what got my back up to begin with. I said i was new to breeding and asked a question... sorry. Then you continued to carry on almost 'venting' at me about your vets and fees as if it was my fault? I then replied that we didn't do said things and no i didn't think it was right!!

oh dear.

oh and as for the people like you... i should have rephrased it for less confusion. pet owners, angry pet owners who have problems with vet fees. and for the record i have had problems with vet fees in the past so i guess i would be included in that!

we get a lot of customers that have this problem and i think you have done a great thing. i suggest that to customers sometimes when they would rather not get the insurance. to get a credit card or a savings account set aside for the pets.

Its separate A, the consultation fee is £12.50 plus vat, then the other fee is on top
