erm I donno they might offer different premiums for large cat house holds or breeders. I'm not sure what they base their premiums on. I was only giving my info as to what I paid. It's different for everyone. Based on breed, age, home life, etc...

...bearing in mind most vets charge at least £30 per overnight stay alone... so why is my bill so cheap... for the simple reason that the bills go up if you are insured as the vets will go to town getting money from insurance companies.

From childhood to current (22yrs) I have had 12 cats and this is the most expensive vet bill I have ever had, so I stand by my choice.

you were lucky. we had a cat hit that had to have a plate and screw put in it's pelvis after being hit and the grand total was £3000 or so (£1650 surgery -£450 emergency care, xrays, scan, meds) lucky the cat was insured!

No they don't missus, lol! and whilst we are on your post Erbsili's new mum, you work at a vet's eh? Do you think its right that my vets charge me a dispensary fee of £4.50 plus vat per visit, for going behind a counter to a little back room, putting my tablets/medication in a little envelope or just picking it up and putting a sticky computerised label on it which reiterates what the vet has already told me? When I could also quite easily go in their little room and do that myself Bear in mind I have multiple vet visits and should have shares in the place and would be able to pinpoint the prescribed medication within a minute So £4.50 plus vat just for basically handing me the medication, what's that about £6, do your vets do that?

I should add, I'm not having a dig at you but just vetinary practice in general and wonder if your practice does the same?

Re: are your cats insured

I've heard good comments about M&S insurance, not sure about how they are when the time comes to pay out though

I think you missed my point... I don't believe it would have cost this much if you had not have been insured. You may find if you are not insured, not everything would have been charged for (such as prolonged periods of overnight stays) and despite what you were told, everything you had done may not have strictly been required.

As Angeli said there was one but it didnt cover Caesarians, and when I last priced a multiple cat policy up about 5 years ago, I would have need a second mortgage to pay for it back then

Re: are your cats insured

I'm with Petplan, £14 or so for one cat per month. Got the one that's covered for life.

I decided to get insurance mainly because I know that my breed has a higher risk of illness than the average moggie, and I'd rather not have to worry about paying the vet bill should my kitten need treatment.
