Logic Oral Hygiene Gel.

I've been using Logic Oral Hygiene Gel, but today I've noticed the grey part (metal) where you screw the cap on is rubbing away, it's inside the cap and around the top of the tube where the gel comes out, my cat licks the gel when I squeeze a little out for her, but i'm worried that she may have swallowed the metal.

The only thing I can think of is that because the gel is abrasive, some may have been in the cap and so the metal is rubbing away with the gel because it appears to be like discolored (grey) gel.

I'm concerned and unsure about whether it's safe to use the gel now. I'm just wondering if anyone has noticed the same thing? I do worry a lot because I love her to bits.

Re: Logic Oral Hygiene Gel.

what is this gel? ive never heard of it does it have anything to dow ith mouth hygeine? if so ca someone let me know as i have trouble keeping my cats mouths clean. as fr your question I would buy another tube and not use that one- sounds like bits of the metal have come off and gets into the cream- maybe next time you buy it you could cut the bottom of th tube and pour the whole cream into a sterilised jar with air tight lid and use ot from there.

Hi Kate.

Logic Oral Hygiene Gel is usually recommended if your cat doesn't like to have their teeth brushed, you apply 1cm of the gel to your finger or your cats paw and allow them to lick the gel.

There is more information in the following link, also a great place to buy the gel from if you decide to try it, I think it's the cheapest on there, but i'm not certain.

Logic Oral Hygiene Gel: Pet Toothpaste 70g - £5.79

Re: Logic Oral Hygiene Gel.

thanks shelly- i didnt even know there was such a thing, my cats teeth stink to high heaven now- i can sometimes smell them even with their mouths closed- i think about it often and then every now and then i resoolve to try and new brushing regime but it never works out- they hate it and i have to give up- it ends up being a pointless task. ive tried those dental sticks they chew but as far as i can see it just puts more stuff on their teeth!

Re: Logic Oral Hygiene Gel.

I've never used the Logic gel, but the metal coming away doesn't sound wholly safe to me. Maybe get in contact with the company that make the gel and enquire about this? I second kate's advice to get a new tube.

Kate, have you tried giving your cats some raw meat or a chicken wing to chew on? Raw meat is also abrasive and the cats have to repeatedly chew - which rubs the teeth and gums. I guess it works like the Logic gel in the way it helps loosen and prevent plaque from building up on the teeth.

Can't say for other people's cats, but Locke gets a chicken wing and sometimes a chunk of raw turkey (usually 1 or 2 inch thick) each week, and so far, his teeth and gums still look healthy.

Has a vet checked your cat's teeth? Bad breath can be a sign of a dental issue, but can also just be "food breath"

Red face Re: Logic Oral Hygiene Gel.

its good stuff - but I hope you have seen your vet about the bad breath - it will work better if their teeth are scaled first. All those bacteria are constantly getting into the cats digestive system and blood stream and can lead to serious problems. I used to think vets pushing teeth cleaning was just to get more money in, but its not - I had bad problems with my siamese, Blue, and her immune system, and I know now to get them checked out . If you are with petplan insurance, you must get their teeth checked yearly or your insurance is invalid!

Check your policy I think you will find it is only dental cover that will be excluded if teeth are not checked yearly!.
