Another Broken Pelvis

My Cat Smudge was hit by a car last night.

We normally get them in about 10-ish because thats when there are very few cars on the road, so when they are most likey not to notice a car comming.

Well we had popped down to my parents earlier in the evening, and we didn't get back till about 10.30, we couldn't see any of ou cats around (we had 2 shut indoors anyway, one was ill, and the other is too young to go out).
But Roxy and Smudge were out, they are normally sitting on the wall or over the porch, but they weren't there so I assumed they had gone inside themselves.

When I opened to door there was a note from my neighbour saying to call her as soon as I got home, I did and she told me to go to hers because my cat had been hit. I automatically assumed the worse!!!
I got over there and he was in a sorry state, he had pooed himself (I think from fear). And he had blood comming out of his nose and eye.
So I automatically assumed he had been hit on the head.

The neighbour had also taken Roxy inside, because she kept hanging about where he had been hit in the road. Which I think was really nice of her. When she was telling us what had happened, it turned out the person that hit him, just drove off!!! What a wa**ker!!!
A young girl and her bf had found him in the road, the girl had taken off her jacket to keep him warm, while the bf went back home to get his mum.

All the neighbours were ralling around trying to find a contact number for us, with no avail. But the knew we would be home as they know we don't leave the cats out at night.

So it seems that the blood around the nose and eye (although seemed bad) was actually blood from his mouth, from where he had bit down as he was hit, so nothing serious. And the fact he pooed himself, was most likely due to shock.

He has unfortunatly got a broken Pelvis, and is in a cage for 6 weeks. I know this is a very common injusry, and what happens in that area is all the muscles actually protect the internal organs. He got his medicine to relive the pain and anti-inflamtry. Since having the medicine he has been purring and rolling the top half off his body around a bit looking for some stokes. He is also very bright eyed.

I am not so bright eyed, as me and my oh didn't really get any sleep last night as we sat up with him to keep an eye on him.

Really sorry to hear that. Hopefully though everything will be ok and the ones will heal - hope no nerve damage. Seems as if you got fast treatment too which is always a plus.

You have some very nice neighbours and the couple who found him. Girl very kind to give up her coat - probably helped with the shock.

Yeah I know we have been told about nerve damage, it seems that it is a bit of a wait and see game as far as that is concerned. So fingers crossed.
