Okay, I have just read your post on another thread and I see you are bringing home a kitten and you already have another cat.
(This is what I would do...)
When you bring your kitten home, take him to your bedroom, where you should already have a bed, litter tray and food already set up for him. Let him on the floor in the crate, but open it so he can come out himself. Don't force him out, let him come out in his own time.
Keep your bedroom door closed, and keep your other cat out. If you make sure there is nothing dangerous on the floor, (tidy away any cables) then there is no reason why the kitten needs to be shut in the crate, (as the crate is not big enough anyway).
Let the kitten get to know you and your bedroom for about a week, before you try introducing him to the rest of the house or your other cat. Before introducing the kitten to the cat, it is a good idea to take the kitten away from your bedroom and allow the cat in, this way your cat will be able to get used to the smell of the kitten without actually having to meet him. While you cat is exploring the kittens smell in the bedroom, you can allow the kitten to explore the cats smell downstairs in the house.
Do this a few times over a period of a few days.
Once you have done this, you can allow them to meet, at this point it is a good idea to put the kitten back in his cage (for protection) and allow your cat into your bedroom so they can meet. There is likely to be a bit of hissing. Introductions should be kept short to start with (maybe 15 mins). Let them see each other like this for short periods of time each day building the time periods up to longer each day.
When you are happy that they have got to know each other a bit, you can try the introductions without the cage. But make sure you stay with them to make sure there is no fighting. Again allow them to see each other for short supervised visits. You can combine these introductions with allowing the kitten to venture further out into the house.
You may have to be patient, some cats take time before they get on with each other. But hopefully if you are patient and persistent, they will get on with each othe.
