Re: Awesome Ikea

That's crazy, there is no way I would allow my cat to be part of something like that, I would be having a panic attack watching them run around IKEA.

Yuk

Re: Awesome Ikea

I thought it was brilliant and I know my boys would have loved it

The space was big enough for the cats to move away from each other and explore so I am sure they weren't stressed out and most cat owners would have pulled any cats that were stressed away from there.

Just because you take your cat to a show, if they are having an off day you don't continue with it do you - so why would you think these owners would?

Good old IKEA for taking a different approach to things. Who better to test sofa softness than a cat that sleeps there for most of the day!

Re: Awesome Ikea

I went into that thinking that it wouldn't be that bad, assuming that it was MUCH more controlled and safe than it actually was.

Bloody hell... I can't believe people signed up for that...

I am serious. There wasn't anything in what I saw that showed animals distressed or cruelty of any kind. It looked like the cats had a great time exploring and climbing higher than anyone predicted. (as usual!)

There is no point in predicting stress when there is no evidence of it.

Cats are by nature great explorers and will keep away from confrontation, hence all their great shows of dominance but generally avoiding actual fights. They all went off in different directions and there was plenty of space for them to do so.

It didn't look like 100 cats were released at the same time, and I am sure they all had to show up to date certificates of vaccinations, similar to when you board your cat.

Maybe it is because I live in a densely populated part of the country that the calculation of 100 cats/IKEA space v London cats/sq m was probably far more space than my cats will ever have!
