Puss-cat off his food :-(
hi guys
you've been so helpful in the past i thought i'd post for some advice, suggestions again... my little puss-cat Ron has gone off his food so i took him to the vet who kept him in for 3 days to rehydrate him and get him eating again which they did... i picked him up on friday but unfortunately he still won't eat at home, tried him with tuna which is what the vet said he was eating there, nope he didn't want that, pilchards which he usually loves, nope, his normal "pouch" food that he likes... nope. i've even warmed it so it smells stronger to try and encourage him. the only thing he's taking in is water and his cat milk, which he's drinking by the bowl full... if he can drink ok why won't he eat d'you think? today i rang the vet again to say that he's not eating again and they've given me some appetite stimulant tablets so i've given him half this morning and he'll be due another half tonight when i get in from work... has anyone else had a similar experience? did the stimulants work ? thanks for any help you might be able to give. sarah -xx- |

Re: Puss-cat off his food :-(
well i have tried using different bowls, his usual bowl in quite a deep stainless steel one so i've tried him with a much more shallow bowl too but that doesn't seem to make a difference. location wise his food, water etc are in the same place in the kitchen as they've always been... he does keep going into the kitchen and looks interested but when he gets there just looks and walks away or drinks more of his milk...

Re: Puss-cat off his food :-(
i believe he would have had water in the vets but not cat milk. i did think about not giving him the milk but even when he's finished his milk he doesn't then turn to the food... and i kinda think that if he's drinking the milk least that's something although obviously not enough to sustain him indefinately.
