Question Miniature Cats

Hey all,

Got a quick question.. little Anneka is almost 4mths now and I'm getting curious about her particular type. The vet designates her a DSH which is fine but the owner I rescued her from said she was a mini cat and that she really wouldn't get very big.

So with that in mind I had a little google and found few articles on mini's, though one did suggest that they are almost their own breed (Miniature Cats, Mini Cats). Can anyone shed any light on them?

I think Anneka best fits the tuxedo pattern of colouring, but really am no wiser as to this mini type.

Re: Miniature Cats

There isn't a small cat in its own breed but there are some unscrupulous breeders out there making a fast buck and claiming there is, which they call a 'Teacup'.
These teacup sized cats (or dogs) are what is normally known as 'the runt of the litter' and is common in any breed of cat in any litter. They are definitely not 'rare' as is claimed but an excuse to charge a ridiculous price.

Re: Miniature Cats

I thought there was a tiny breed called munchkins, or have I missed something is it that breeders have a the odd small kitten that they class as rare.

My two kittens' mum was tiny so it was thought my two would be tiny but no they shot up but have slowed down a bit now so I think mine will be just a standard size cats.

Re: Miniature Cats

I think Munchkins are those cats with very very short legs aren't they, not just small in proportion all over. Another genetic anomaly someone has turned into a "breed"

Oh that doesn't sound right does it. I've been trying to read up on pedigree cats mainly so I don't offend anyone as some breeds are similar.
