Re: help needed urgent thanks x
Could it be possible the kittys are getting there water from scources that the owners don't see?? i.e puddles, etc, I seldom see my cat drink in the house, but often see hime sipping from garden containers, also I do not know but is goats milk ok for cats?? maybe it could be a tempter!!!!

Re: help needed urgent thanks x
Are they eating wet or dry food?
If they are on wet food, that is made up of about 80% moisture, so they would probably be getting plenty of fluid that way. If they are on dry then it is a different story. Cat milk is not a drink, it is a food, although yes it does contain alot of fluid. If they are on dry food, the new owners could try soaking the food in water (like when they were weaned) just to get some fluids in them that way. If you can visit them (or get the new owners to do this) pinch out a bit of skin from the kitten scruff on neck and see how quicky it falls back down into place, if it does not fall straight back into place, then that is a good sign the cat is dehydrated and really they will need to see a vet. |

Re: help needed urgent thanks x
Some cats will be okay drinking normal milk, not all cats are lactose intolerant, infact kittens aren't lactose intolerant until at least 3 months of age. Most cats can drink a small amount of cows milk without problem. If the kittens aren't getting diarrhea then I wouldn't worry but if they are you need to convince them to stop giving cows milk.
![]() You could suggest they try giving latose free milk which is widely available in supermarkets. They could also wet the food to get water down them or get water fountains for the kittens, a lot of cats prefer to drink flowing water. ![]() |

Re: help needed urgent thanks x
hello Cinderella - you don't say whether your kitten families are asking you to take the kitten back because the kittens are not drinking but you do say they seem to be unwilling to drink. As Sue says, it is quite possible that the kittens are getting sufficient liquid from other sources. Perhaps they are being fed moist food, in which case, the kittens may not require much extra moisture. It is possible try offering goats milk or goatsmilk yoghurt - my queen loves this.
As long as the cat-children are feeding and looking healthy, playing normally and not looking tired, listless etc, I believe your kitten families have nothing to worry about but if they really are worried, please encourage them to take the kittens to the vet for further advice. Hope things go well for everyone. Please post and let us all know. ![]() |
