Re: Covering poo

Most of the time my male cat doesn't. Cleo always does hers...

Sometimes Bailey wont even cover over his wee! then Cleo goes and covers it over for him ... I just think it's a male thing

Re: Covering poo

Probably lazy, some of our boy kitts bury their dumps without actually burying them(if ya get my drift)fortunately their is always a member of the litter police around who will do their checks and bury appropriately,or could be though he uses the litter he doesn't like the feel of the litter on his paws

Re: Covering poo

Mine is a neutered boy, but he does make an attempt though like most males who really think its a token thing he doesn't do it really well.

He paws outside the covered litter, he paws the sides, he paws the entrance and he paws litter it does not matter where it is.

I wonder whether actually its a territorial thing - leave the poo uncovered so the scent wafts around to say 'keep off - my territory'

Re: Covering poo

For some tt is a teritiorial thing, a way of marking their scent.

For others its lazy!

One of my boys (smudge) has got into the habbit of not covering his, because as soon as he goes I get him out of the tray and remove it for him... there is a very good reason for this... 9 times out of 10 he will stand in the stuff!!! Argh!!!

And while we are on the subject of litter tray habbits, my other boy (murray) doesn't ever stand in the tray, he balances himself on the edge of the tray and squats over it! (even when the tray is completely clean).
