Allergy Help

Hi All...

We have had our "kids" since Friday.. they are much loved and have made me and my boyfriend extremley happy.
However, my boyfriend has suffered from a very heavy/tight chest when he goes to bed. This has happened probably 2 nights since we had them, but the coughing has caused him to be sick.
He's made an appointment to see the doctor today to see if there is anything he can suggest other than re-home the kittens.

As you can all probably appreciate, it is extremley difficult for both of us to even think of possibly having to re-home them. Especially as they are really becoming ours, and we don't want to get too attached to them if we do need to find them a new family... although I think it's already too late for me, I'm 100% in love with muppet and izzy..

Do any of you wonderful, cat loving knowledgable people know of anyway to help my boyfriend and his new found allergy.... as it will really and already is breaking my heart thinking about rehoming them.

Thank you
x

Re: Allergy Help

Oh so sorry to hear you might have a problem, but if this is a nightime thing, couldn't you just keep them out of the bedroom.

Re: Allergy Help

We already do keep them out of the bedroom, as muppet has a fascination with the fireplace until we get a fire guard!

We keep them downstairs, and put them in the kitchen for bed time..

The rehoming my boyfriend idea is sounding more and more tempting!

Re: Allergy Help

Hi

I can really feel for you - when I bought Oscar home the boyfriend thought that he was allergic. My answer - I went and bought Fifi!!! Have since discovered that he isn't actually allergic to cats but has that thing that men get every so often - male exaggaration!!! I did half heartedly suggest rehoming Oscar but knew that it would have been the boyfriend that got rehomed before I'd part with Oscar.

Any way apparently accupuncture is really really good that is if your boyf doesn't mind being a pin cushion

Re: Allergy Help

He does also suffer from hayfever, but this reaction he has been having is quite extreme, and only comes on at night...
He has had a reaction to cats before, staying at his brothers house who has 2 cats that slept in the bed we were due to sleep in, but we put this down to the state of their house as well as the long hair cats being in close proximety.

He's on hayfever tablets, and with any luck the doctor might beable to suggest something tonight..
