Re: Question for all breeders..........
I'm feeling guilty now - Tabitha's five kittens (8 weeks on Sat) have always been confined to one room (large and mostly empty apart from cat toys, climbers, sleeping bags, litter tray and food). They seem really friendly when I have visitors who come up with me to spend time with them and Tabitha still spends a lot of time up there too.
My concern if I let them have the run of the house is that my other cats may hurt them and I have cat flaps at back and front of the house and I worry that the kittens would follow my other cats' lead and get out. My intention was to let them in the rest of the house while I am around once those I am not keeping have gone to their new homes. That will probably have to change as a close friend who is having two has a holiday booked in September so it makes sense for me to keep them until after he gets back. I think maybe I will let them out in the evenings once I get home from work just for a couple of hours before it gets dark. I can't lock one of my cat flaps unfortunately as the little switch has snapped off. I hate to think of my fur babies being unsocialised. They do chase each other around the room a lot and climb the chest of drawers that is in there. I always learn so much from this forum. It's great. Lumps |

Re: Question for all breeders..........
I think letting them out is a good idea, they need to get used to general noises and general goings on around the house like the TV, washing machine etc and get to learn that if they are in one part of the house they have to go find their tray etc.
My friend had a kitten who was scared of stairs for the first few weeks because he had never seen them before - he was kept in a downstairs room. Before you let them out, blue tack down your valuables ![]() ![]()

![]() I wasn't having a nag earlier, its just I was at work and reading this was more interesting than doing what I am paid to do , I was just having trouble following some of the posts.I caught sight of something about the woman crying and I was getting a bit confused. I think I'm with you guys and gals though, I do hope these kits are allowed out of their cages for some love, attention and play! |

Re: Question for all breeders..........
Well I think Tabitha's fur babies are totally gorgeous (but then I am a tad biased). The vet said they were a really lovely litter as well - and she must have seen hundreds of litters.
I am trying to get them used to the noise of the hoover but they don't like it and hide. They are fine with the TV as I've let them in my bedroom (which is next door to their room) when I have been watching TV in there. One of them was fascinated and just sat and watched it mesmorised. I will start letting them explore upstairs a bit - not that that will take long as I don't have a big house. They do appear very confident - apart from when the hoover is about. They seem to view that as a Kitten Eating Monster Lumps |
