I would never get two puppies together because you need a lot of your pup's attention to teach and train all the tons of things dogs need to know to function in human society... cats need a lot less training though, and I prefer to have two cats, especially when they're young. They can burn off energy together, keep eachother company, and the one young adult cat I had on his own (houseguest) was rather on the needy side...

So for me, one pup, but two kittens :-)
