Re: cat contraceptive jab

I definitely wouldn't give any kind of contraceptive to a maiden queen, messes up their hormones.

Re: cat contraceptive jab

How popular is this contraceptive jab???

I had hormone problems for 7 years and I wont even take paracetamol unless Im seriously desperate so I doubt I would ever consider anything like this but thats just my opinion through my own experiences of mother nature versus manmade etc lol.

As with anything there are pros' and cons and I dont know enough to make a strong statement....what I do know though is that even the name of it sounds wrong ''cat contraceptive jab'' lol. Ive heard it all now haha.

Would be interested to hear more about though if anyone knows anything? Im open minded and as Ive said I really dont know nothing about this freaky sounding jab. xx

Re: cat contraceptive jab

My blue point siamese started calling for the 1st time a couple of days ago and it never made me want to try and shut her up...quite the opposite I got the feeling of my kitten is growing up and for the last few days we have just done everything together (including the dishes). Shes behaving a bit needy and it made me feel like I need to be there for her more. Suppose everyones different. xx

Re: cat contraceptive jab

One or two of my cats calling wouldnt bother me to be honest got so used to it now. I go along with reasons for not getting them mated such as lack of condition, too short a time inbetween litters, too young and so on and there are things you can get to suppress a call, but I too have never heard of a contraceptive jab for cats and would be interested to know just out of curiosity what its effective ingredients are

The other thing to bear in mind of course, is that it is not healthy for an entire female to go for too many calls without being mated due to the risk of a Pyometra.
