Opal/Muffin's baby.....................

I am now down to one kitten between these two mums. He actually belongs to Opal as all of Muffin's died This kitten has been being brought up by both mothers. However, Opal the real mum was not feeding the kit or washing her, just lying next to her. Muffin, the foster mum, has took on all the feeding and has washed the kit clean.

The kit is with Muffin most of the time which I am happy with as it is putting on weight and is clean. As soon as Muffin gets off the kitten and it cries, Opal dives in, picks the kit up in her mouth and plonks it on the settee. Just lying next to it nothing else.

My dilemma now is do I take mum Opal away and leave Muffin (foster mum) to get on with it, or leave both girls in the kitten room

I have already made a decision and acted on it, but would be interested to hear your views on this situation........................... C.x.

Oh no Chrissy how tragic - so sorry to hear you have one kitten remaining

Its a tricky situation that you have here but I would leave the kitten with Muffin the foster mum as she is the one that has taken over the mothering duties.

Try it for a day or two and see how it all goes.

Hi Chrissy

I'm so sorry that you are down to one kitten - I'm really sure things will start looking up for you soon. I can't believe the run of bad luck you've been having
it's not on that one person should have so much!

With my limited experience I would say take Opal out of the kitten room as Muffin is providing all the basic needs, just incase Opal carts the kitten off & Muffin loses interest.

I really wish you the best of luck x

Thank you both, that is exactly what I have done. Hopefully this kitten will continue to grow and put on weight. I still have my gorgeous Victor too and it will break my heart when he goes to his new home. Still....................onwards and upwards as they say

Oh C-so sorry to read this love, but 2 fighters and i would maybe leave them together as they are support for each other(assuming they are good together) plus you can see how they go on as mums for the future,a learning curb for them and for you but wish you the best of Lancs with whatever you decide love

Re: Opal/Muffin's baby.....................

Thanks Kels I had to move Opal out as every time Muffin got off the kit Opal would get hold of it and jump up onto the settee. She wasnt feeding it and it could have toppled off on to the floor Then Muffin would go back to the box and wonder where the kit had gone So its probably best all round to leave Muffin to it The kit is putting on a lot of weight now but its an ugly little thing, lol

Sending you lots of cyber hugs Chrissie - I think you are doing just right by this baby - he has to be with the queen who will provide for him.
