Re: What you need in your cat birthing box

incontinent pads they are great for the queen when she is given birth as they can easily be put in the bin after each kitten..a hot water bottle and some incontinent pads over it as the kittens arrive they are put on the pad and are warm but the kittens must be dryed first ..geri

Amazon.co.uk: microwave bears

Great for weighing, sexing and changing bedding. Just pop the bear/cow/horse/sea-lion in with the kittens and they love the warmth and cosiness.

Re: What you need in your cat birthing box

Hello our siamese has just been mated for the first time and we have a couple of questions
she is a maiden queen and we were warned there are chances that she will not be pregnant the first time does antone know the rough percentage of failing the first time is it common
The second is my hubby is very practical and wants to build the birting box, what are the dimensions I googled it and the results were varied we do not have lots of room in our flat
thanks

Re: What you need in your cat birthing box

A medium sized cardboard box would be fine - no need to spend loads or make anything fancy

I used an Ottoman with a bit drilled in the side for their heat pad plug to fit through, others have used rabbit hutches. Best of luck. I used a bog standard box for the birth as it can get messy.
