Registering with GCCF

Hi can I just ask for some simple clarification on what I need to do.

Do I need to join a breed club first ( I would be joining the Tonkinese breed club anyway)
I am just unsure about the whole process.

I have chosen my prefix and fingers crossed will get what I have chosen but I know I need to come up with a few more thoughts to put as reserves.

Thanks
Hazel

Hi Hazel, I think for GCCF you do and if I remember rightly you have to have someone second you. I'm sure someone who does lots of GCCF shows ect will put me right, lol

Yes I thought something like that.
I think the breeder who is selling me my first breeding queen will second me if I ask her.

Re: Registering with GCCF

yes you have to be a member of a cat club reconized by the gccf for 1 year before you can apply for your prefix, you then fill out the form downloaded from the gccf site, and send your cheque to your cat club they sign it and forward it onto the gccf, also some clubs wont sign the forms unless you have a mentor who is also a member of the club, hope this helps, iv now just applied for my own prefix, xx

Re: Registering with GCCF

Hi Linda, thanks for the info.

I thought that it wasn't an automatic 1 yr which you had to be registered but it was down to the individual club.
I suppose I am just a bit disappointed that it is going to take longer than I thought.
I wont be breeding for another year yet anyway as my new girl is only 2 weeks old at the moment but I just worry about getting everything done in time.

Re: Registering with GCCF

Hi

I have had my prefix name since March although I won't be taking my first girl to stud until next month.

I joined a cat club and they quite happily signed my prefix registration form without me having to be a member for a year so I think it depends on what cat club.

Hope this helps!

Re: Registering with GCCF

Thanks, that seems a bit more manageable.
I completely understand why you have to jump through so many hoops but I suppose I am just a bit impatient!!!

Hopefully this time next year I will be getting ready to take my girl to stud and then I will be on here looking for advice very often!!!!
I am just so excited, I have wnted to do this for about 10yrs but have just never been in the position to do it but now I am.

Thanks
xx

Actually you dont have to be with the club for a year before applying for your prefix - its depends on the club. SOme clubs say min 12 months others dont state - so make sure you check the rules and regs before registering with a club if u want to get your prefix sooner
