Spraying Queens

As some of you know, I am getting an experienced queen next month. Currently she sprays when calling and my breeder said when she gets to my house that I should nip it in the bud before it starts.
Any ideas how i could do that? confused:

I would have asked her but so many questions and spoke to her for ages last night and i was so tired!

Thanks

Re: Spraying Queens

Well it sounds rather like its past the stage of "nipping in the bud" if she is an experienced queen who sprays. I would say you may have to try to spray her back with a water pistol and see if she responds.

My two queens do this and there is not a lot I can do about it except clean up after them. I have to be at work during the day so whatever I tell them in the mornings, evenings and weekends goes in one ear and straight out again through their wee.

If I find the solution to this one that does not include spaying, I look forward to my millions - but if anyone out there can give a good solution I shall be checking back on this thread to find out more.

Re: Spraying Queens

I've got one that sprays all the time, nothing has worked with her. I even put her in the run for a week and scrubbed the house where she sprays, used that urine off stuff, everything.....nothing has worked
The only advice I got from 2 very experienced breeders was put her in the run when she calls and she can spray as much as she likes, lol. It's easy to clean and wash down that way.

Whats the best cleaning stuff?

I cant put her in the run as we dont have one yet - we were not expecting the spraying ones just yet as our kittens are not old enough.
We are in the process of doing the garden and we were doing to build a run later on in the year
I guess i will have to get my marigolds out for a while!!

Re: Spraying Queens

Just seen a thread on another board, where someone very kindly posted a tip about spraying - not sure that it actually STOPS the queens doing this but it makes them do less of it and the house smells a bit more pleasant.

The tip is to use some spray fragrance - a bit like Impulse or a ladies' deoderant spray. I have not tried this yet but will do so tonight and see what happens.
