BSH Ideal Weight??

Hi All,
I'm new on here....I found this forum by accident last week when I was research browsing. It is a very informative site!!

I wondered if anyone who has British Shorthairs knows what is a normal/good weight for a 10 month old female? My girl currently weighs 7lbs and I wondered if this was about right? My two neuters are huge and have always been above the average weight so its difficult for me to compare her to them....although she eats more than them put together!

Many thanks!!

Re: BSH Ideal Weight??

It really depends on their lines? she weighs less than my Selkirk the same age but she is a particularly chunky girl .... I would say about 3.5 - 4.5 kgs at that age so 7.5 lbs to 10lbs for a female BSH. If she is eating well and has been wormed then she may be in a growth spurt?

I tend to find they eat lots then shoot up then fill out then start the whole cycle again

Re: BSH Ideal Weight??

Hi Soupie,

Thanks, I'm 2flowergirl on HB, ok yes she is 3.5 kg at the moment
and her breeder said that is fine in her opinion. I was just curious as she eats like a horse and yes she is up-to-date on her worming so no worries there.

I agree about the shooting up and then out, they are all still doing that. She is a little chunky madam though, very compact and 4-square so she is all in proportion, guess its just time she needs!

Thanks!
