Re: Bsh

You know that old saying a watched pot never boils.....................

My first queen didn't call for the first time until she was nearly 14 mths old. I wouldn't want to mate a queen before she was a year old anyway so much better they wait to call until they are that age or older than have a queen who starts at 5mths old and calls herself into the ground before that time. She will call when she is ready and probably when its most inconvenient

Re: Bsh

thanks, it is much better this way round but i was hoping she would be ready to mate at around a year as my brother has a month off over easter to cat sit!! but never mind, it will be inconvenient but wonderful i'm sure! how old would they be before you start to get worried they won't come into call or are silent?

Re: Bsh

I Would Imagine She Should Have Started Calling By The Time Shes Around 14-16 Months If Not Before . If Not Id Get Her Looked At. To Be Honest She Would Be A Nice Age Around 1 And A Half For A First Time Mum. To Early Can Have Risks. Of Cousre There Are Risks With Any Litter But She Will Be Older And More Mature To Handle The Pregantcy. Hope All Sorts It Self Out.

Re: Bsh

Have a chat with her breeder - hopefully they will mentor you and be able to offer advice.

My first breeding girl didn't have her first call until she was almost 13 going n 14 months - her daughter called at 5 months!!

Are you sure she isn't a silent caller?

Re: Bsh

Hi, my bsh queen came in to call last month for the first time at nearly 10 months. I have heard that it differs from queen to queen!

Do chat with her breeder as they should know best how to advise on cats from their lines.

Re: Bsh

I am presently waiting for five girls of my own to call plus one who is here visiting supposedly at stud (she went off call the instant she arrived!). It is terribly annoying isn't it but I don't think there is anything to be done except wait. I just hope my five don't all call at the same time!

Re: Bsh

YIKES! Can you imagine?? 5 litters all born within the space of a week? .... lol, you just KNOW they'll all start calling 1 day apart (murphys law!)

Maybe we should start a "YAY first call of the year" thread
