how do you tell...

.....if a cat is pregnant, without taking her to the vet?

We have an abandoned cat that has adopted us. Her tummy is becoming rounder, but we don't know if thats because she is now eating better, since we are feeding her or if she is pregnant.

We will pro take her to the vet at some point, to make her officially our.

You wait! It becomes obvious usually at 5-6 weeks.

Re: how do you tell...

:nods: my girl was round but still quite small at 5 weeks, she's now 6 1/2 weeks and has gone from looking like she'd swallowed an orange, to looking like she's swallowed a football .... Holding my breath for the space hopper look within the next 10 days lol.

Will she let you near her? Has she "pinked up" at all (nipples bigger and darker pink)

good luck!

Re: how do you tell...

phew, We took her to the vet and she is not pregnant, and she has been spayed. So we are thinking that she is just fattening up now that she is being fed properly

Re: how do you tell...

That is good. just a thought is she on a worming programme?
Im sure the vet would have mentioned it but they can get rounded bellies if they have worms. but as you said she was abandoned i doubt she was on one when she adopted you.

Have fun with her and well done you for taking her in
