Any new info i should know about breeding & which breed?

Hi all, I'm new to this part as I'm normally on the Doggy bit about my adorable Cavaliers.
I have bred BSH/Persians For 8 years and sadly had to completely give up 3 years ago due to my sons illness. My son has now turned a corner, and is now able to go to school full time, so I'm extremely excited to now be able to get back into cats and maybe able to dabble in showing, I don't think its something that you can ever get out your system.

What I was wondering was has anything changed within the GCCF requirements for breeder that I might not know about, I will obviously look into this myself as well.
Also I hope I don't cause offence here, but I would like to find a breed that the market isn't flooded with and that I may in some way be able to contribute to, any breed ideas? I have a few in mind but just wanted some ideas.
Many thanks

Pleased to hear your son is much better! xx

What sort of cats do you ''prefer'' is there a type? Or would you consider any breed/type.

There are a few new breeds introduced to the UK that need ''help'' so to speak
xx

Re: Any new info i should know about breeding & which breed?

What made you pick BSH and persians to begin with ? To my mind if you breed it should be because you adore and understand that breed. If you felt that way about BSH and peesians at one point, why not return to where you have all your experience and knowledge. Are there any new developments with regards to colour/pattern in those breeds you could help champion?

I can not think of any drastic change in the GCCF in the last 3 years, except the cost of everything has increased like everything else nowadays.

Re: Any new info i should know about breeding & which breed?

Hi there, Many thanks for your kind words.

I don't want a long haired breed as I have to keep my dogs groomed and have had the up keep of the fab Persian coats in the past and don't want that level of grooming again, semi-longhair is fine.

Also, again I don't want to offend, but I like my cats to look like cats and for them to move like cats if you can understand where I'm coming from.

Could you elaborate on the new breeds that you mentioned please.

Thanks for your time.

Off the top of my head:

Australian Mist
Khao Manee
Toyger
La Perm
Ragamuffin

I don't know about the GCCF status's though! I just know these are relatively new breeds to the UK!

I do understand what you are saying, but these are my reasons.

I don't want to go back to persian because of the level of comitment of the coat, i would only breed/buy the best persians possible and they come with mega coats and would find that too much now.

BSH because the market is flooded with them and i don't feel that i could offer anything else to the breed by adding more kittens, i will just enjoy my BSH as pets, and would rather put my time and money into a breed that needs help, bigger gene pools, importing, showing ect.

Hope that answers your queston.

How about Siberians? semi long haired - don't need masses of grooming (I believe), definately look like a 'proper' cat. I have a Briman x Siberian and she is just so soft and silky and gorgeous!

Re: Any new info i should know about breeding & which breed?

The Aussie mists and Khao Manees could certainly use a helping hand, though I think kittens are likely to be very pricey because the breeds are so new.

No GCCF rule changes I can think of - just a lot of price increases!

Great news about your son!

Liz

Glad to hear your sons better.

What a shame you dont want to continue with the british, you could always try one of the newer colours ( cinnamon, fawn, bi-coloupoint )

What a bout Selkirks or maybe the Exotics, I love both especially the Selkirks scrummy
