Stopping Mum's Milk

Any advice on how to get Nala's milk to dry up? The poor soul got mastitis at the weekend again and is back on the anti biotics. The kittens are eating wet food well but still suckle from Mum and she actively encourages them. They are 7 weeks old now and it would be better for Nala due to the mastitis not to be feeding them. I have reduced her food but she is still desperate to feed them, she miaows and jumps up and down on them yelling at them to feed from her!

Re: Stopping Mum's Milk

Just keep her away from them-if you can put her in a different room,as it will stress her and babies if they can hear each other, she'll be fine and so will kitts, they're eating so what they get from mum is comfort as opposed to necessity'sHope she recovers soon from mastitis-poor girl

Re: Stopping Mum's Milk

Fingers and tails crossed for Nala's fast recovery-she'll need her strength to help you gain some sort of order back into your house-as the kitts will be all over the place-up and down and then of course after a right good tazzy they'll need to play the "lets see how much we can use the litter in under 60 secs" gameOh the joys of-dunno what i'm on about ours are well on the way tooD

Re: Stopping Mum's Milk

They have the whole of the upstairs landing which is lovely and long for them to pick up speed on!! Sounds like 4 elephants sometimes. Do love it when they are playing and all of a sudden they make a mad dash to the litter tray, the concentration on their little faces!!!
