I agree, I've got that and it's excellent.

The book of the cat a good source of information too, but I think its out of print, but you can pick up copies on ebay.

Also Betty Bloomfields Nursing and Hand rearing kittens is a must have. Pursonal Touch used to sell that.

I think reading as much as possible is a definite must. However, most books I have read on birthing issues make things sound very black and white, like if your cat doesn't do this within this time get to a vet etc, but reality is very seldom like that and the cat is just doing everything in their own time in their own way.

Well luckily I have my own experience of one birth and also realise that from reading peoples experiences on here
When I was reading about cat labour prior to Zelda's birth I got the idea I'd have some warning - Zelda's jumped up on my shoulder and broke her water and lost plug all over me - giving me time to change clothes, rush to get son from nursery - start to finish was about 3hrs
It's all on here somewhere that's prob why I panicked

Wow you were lucky that sounds like a perfect text book birth to me apart from the waters breaking on your shoulder. I wish my first cat birth experience had been like that.

Re: Recommeded Books...

It was a fantastic experience but a shock as everything I'd read seemed to imply they'd be a show or waters up to 48hrs before active labour
