Question Aggressive tendencies prior to birthing?

I'm the one that has the cat with the "mystery" pregnancy. (About 15 days pregnant at time of sterilization and possibly one or two survived the procedure. See the "Odd situation" thread)

Since she has all the signs of pregnancy, except a huge tummy, I was able to figure that this week is right about the due time, but can't be sure since all of this happened as a gigantic surprise.

I have been watching her very closely and I noticed that this past weekend she started having very aggressive behavior towards the other spayed female in the house, but is fine with the two neutered boys. I was wondering if this is a common behavioral change that can happen as the due date gets close or should I assume that it is just a tiff between the two girls for some other reason?

For now I'm keeping her away from everyone so she can be safe and in peace for her delivery time, but I'm wondering if this behavior is something I should be concerned about or if it is common in nearly due females. I sure wish I had a more accurate idea of the due date, this waiting and not knowing is killing me! I am so anxious to see if I am going to be a kitty grandma!

Re: Aggressive tendencies prior to birthing?

Hormone swings can make them moody. That could be because of a stage of pregnancy that she is at, or her hormones dying down from being spayed. In a multicat household when a cat is neutered/spayed you often get a period of unrest as they re position themselves in the pecking order.

Re: Aggressive tendencies prior to birthing?

Thanks Saikou, I assumed that it was something like that, but always good to check. I think having a "spayed, pregnant" kitty is just throwing me for a loop these days. I just can't wait for this big mystery to be answered.

I spoke to the vet a little while ago and told her that if nothing happens by the end of this weekend, I will bring her in for another check up.
