Re: Amber has just been done

Awwww i know how you feel as cocoa was done 2 weeks ago.

She was very wobbly after and off colour all week.

Turned out she had mastitis but after anti-biotics she is now back to normal and very playful.

It is so sad as she was a fantastic mum and very attentive to her babies.
I still wonder if i did the right thing.

Give Amber a few days and see how she goes.

ah thanks hun, isnt it awful when they were such good mums? aw poor Cocoa, I asked them to make sure her milk was gone before they did it and they never said otherwise. Tia was still sneaking an odd drink, but i think it was comfort rather then getting anything, there didnt seem to be any milk there.

did you keep the baby?

Re: Amber has just been done

No i would have loved to,but with three cats and five kids it would be to much and expensive.

I have decided in the future that i would like to breed though as i so enjoyed the experience and i was there at my brothers cats birth 2 weeks ago and had to remove the sacs and keep them warm untill she had finished birthing and it was very satisfying.

I put some pics of her babies on tonight and they are gorgeous.
So tempted to buy one lol.

lol!! i know its lovely isnt it but a worry too. i love my little tia shes such an angel, shes everything i wanted out of a cat, not sure if its cos i bottle fed her or cos shes known us from day one, either way shes the perfect pet! i nearly asked the vet today to take my number in case they need foster care for a pregnant cat but we have 3 now too, so its enough i think.

Thats the thing isnt it..its not as easy as it sounds and you have to be prepared for all eventualities.
Its not all cuteness and fun as i learned the hard way.
And Tia is very very cute by the way.

aw thanks.

ive just checked on amber she is so sore at the back. is this normal? when we got misty done, i dont remember her not being able to walk very well, its as if shes only got use of 3 legs, shes very wobbly. she still seems a bit groggy, ill phone vets if no better tomorrow.

she wouldnt entertain the bland chicken they told me to give her so shes eaten some dry food hope this is ok???? shes starving bless her.

ive set her up for night in the cloakroom with bed, litter and food and water cos if Tia gets near her she will jump all over her, and just want to keep her calm.

Re: Amber has just been done

Hi Kitties.
Sorry missed your post last night.
How is Amber today?
I didnt get any food instructions when cocoa was spayed.she just ate normal food and they gave me biscuits for spayed cats.
Oh and i treated her to some fish.

Hope Amber is ok and she is just groggy after surgery.

Re: Amber has just been done

shes great! its a really tiny little scar and is healing so well, i am amazed, after the first night and next morning, she was almost her old self, a little tender but apart from that perfect! i was so worried that first night cos hadnt remember my other cat being so stiff and woozy.

i do have a problem though. kept tia away from her for a few days so she wasnt jumping all over her, but ive been out just come back and found her feeding!! i dont know if she can get any milk, if theres any there, or what. any ideas? Tia is 14 weeks now.

Re: Amber has just been done

I did catch cocoas kitten feeding from her two days after the op(which she was happy to allow).

Only thing is a cocoa developed mastitis, but that may be as she only had two kittens and they only fed from a certain two nipples. So im sure thats fine if Amber doesnt mind..its often for comfort anyway at that age.

Glad shes feeling better.
