General advice

Hi all,

Im after some general advice really. Im thinking about getting a queen to breed with my bsh male. I have two male cats one is nutered but my bsh boy is not. They are both house cats.

Would it be a good idea to bring a queen into my house with the males? I can easily seperate them and im in the house alot of the time so have plenty of time to keep an eye on them and help raise kittens etc

Would it be ok to have the kittens in the same home as the father cat? Ive heard about males killing kittens but with my cats being house cats there would be no chance of the kittens picking up any strange sents.

any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks

Re: General advice

IS your boy on the active register? If he has his wicked way with a queen you buy in (she would need to be on the active register too to get them registered properely)it is possible that once his had had his end away he may start scent marking in the house. It would certainly be advisable to keep dad away from the kittens for the first few weeks. Once they are about 5 weeks old he is unlikely to harm them (IMHO).

Re: General advice

The other males might hurt the queen as it's there territory. I'd be worried for her and the babies imo.

the other male is neautered ,in my experience they are good with kittens,of course all cats are different depends on their nature. My entire boy wouldnt hurt the smallest of kittens, not that he gets any contact with any!
once he "discovers" what its for,he is very likely to stink your house out by spaying everywhere, you are lucky he doesnt already!! he may need to be kept outside as a stud then. The other male would make a good companion in this case.I keep my males outside with neauter males/females,and entire girls/kittens in when they are pregnant/feeding,when kitts are gone the girls spend a lot of time outside,as entire girls can piddle on your beds/sofas and spray ect
